Sheets has successful surgery
Ben Sheets' surgery on his elbow was "successful" and is looking to return after the all-star break. The article points out that if he is signed after the June amatuer draft then the team that signs him can do so without losing future draft picks. Sounds like it will make it harder for the Rangers to get him here unless they are willing to assume some extra risk.

That sucks for the Rangers.
He doesn’t sound like he’ll be in play for the local boys…sigh.

We should still make a move for him now
Screw the draft pick for a chance to get Sheets here for a season, maybe a season and a half.
By 2028, Mark Teixeira will be in the HOF.
