Personal take on Kins & MY Elvis reaction
I want to get people's take on MY and Kinsler's reaction to Elvis. I heard both on The Ticket over the past couple of days, and it seems like they are holding back.
You hear both say what comes close to the right things, but it was hard for me to walk away from both interviews thinking anything but both of them feel as if Elvis is being rushed.
Maybe I'm being paranoid, but it was definitely not, "This kid is the real deal, it's only a matter of time until he becomes a star, we'll do everything we can to help him out."
Anyone else have the same opinion or is it just me reading too much into a couple of interviews during the first days of workouts?

well kinsler/fotf were good friends + double play partners and maybe they dont really like having a new guy between them
and my response to that is: growthefuckup.
especially michael young. im sorry, if your not good at your job and there is someone who could be better you dont complain about getting moved — especially if your being WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY overpaid for your services. considering he was (via ops+ at least) not that much better than brandon boggs (who hit .226) – my had an ops+ of 2 points higher
also consider:
player A:
.275 ba/.321 obp/.465 slg/15 hr/28 2b/74 rbi/31 bb + 70k
player B:
.284 ba/.339 obp/.402 slg/12 hr/36 2b/82 rbi/55 bb + 109k
player a: david murphy
player b: michael young
/rant
anyway, i dont care if THEY think he is being rushed, i care what JD/washington/nolan think
Scout: He was a first-round pick right? Got a huge bonus?
KG: Oh yeah.
Scout: Well, he spent a lot of it on milkshakes.

I was gonna say the same thing as KOK
They don’t want anybody crashing their party, they are baseball players. Michael knows that Elvis taking his place is starting to signal the end of his career. He gets pushed off short for someone who they think can do the job better, what happens when he gets pushed off third for someone they think can do the job better??
Plus no way in HELL Ian is gonna say anything that does not fall in line with Michael on this subject. They have to share a locker room together. What is Ian gonna say “Oh damn they were right, this Elvis kid kicks ass, he makes michael young look like a punk bitch at short!”

+1
which is a shame
is michael young even the 3rd best SS defender on the 40 man? (including guys like arias, vallejo, etc)
here is a question: what are the chances metcalf is able to play SS or 2b? i would think if he could play 2b or even SS he would have some value to someone out there…
also has there ever been a clear answer about his defense at 3b? it WAS above average but now its just ok? or is it still above avg?

I think we're overanalyzing this
they are not going to haze him mercilessly or purposely tank games by throwing balls just out of his reach or something. They will continue to play baseball to the best of their abilities and try to win together. They don’t have to like each other, they just have to play well. I don’t give a shit if they like him or are happy he’s there.
