Nelson Cruz and the WBC
So...is Nelson Cruz playing in the WBC detrimental to his shot at making the starting 9 come opening day?
Does him wanting to represent the DR hamper his chances? Does it give the FO a bad taste in their mouths?
I could never question the sense of honor it can be for someone to represent their country, I would hope he got blessings from the men up top.
I personally don't think it's a bad idea for an offensive player to do the WBC, I do however think if you're a pitcher it is beyond a stupid move for reasons only pertaining to the physical.
Anywho, didn't see it discussed much, just wanted to see what y'all thought....

If he truly is
going to be the starting right fielder and gets a good amount of ABs then it probably won’t be too bad. The pitchers are the ones who you worry about in the WBC

He'll be fine
starting, getting plenty of at bats, playing against pitchers who are really trying to win, game conditions, etc.

Yep
From that standpoint, it might be better for him than ST if he needs time to find his groove.
Yeah. Spies. They're little guys with beady eyes and long fingernails. They plant bugs that can pick up the hush of a man's heartbeat - or the whisper of a falling hair.

Speaking of Traffic;
Winwood & Clapton are playing the AAC June 23rd. Anyone going? I’ll bet that’ll be a cheap ticket…

MaxRam in for Venezuela
That should be fun to watch if they’ll play him.
Max Ramirez has accepted an invitation to play for Venezuela in the World Baseball Classic.
“The manager called me and said I was going to play,” Ramirez said. “I talked to [general manager] Jon Daniels and Ron Washington, and they said it would be a good experience if I played a lot.” Ramirez has apparently been told that he’ll be given a good amount of playing time. Whether that comes at catcher, first base or DH remains to be seen. He’s buried behind Jarrod Saltalamacchia and Taylor Teagarden on the organizational depth chart and isn’t likely to make the Rangers out of camp, so he might as well represent his country.
