Rangers Play Tonight!!!
Yes the Rangers do play tonight @ 7 on ESPN Classics. Its a match up between the 1994 California Angels(Lorraine) VS your Texas Rangers(Rogers). This game ranks number two in my all time games attended. My number three would have to be Byrds granny against the Yanks. The number one all time is Ryan express vs Robin Ventura the greatest game I have ever seen with the emotion and atmosphere at an all time high. The All-Star game at the BBPIA would also have to make it into my top 5. The lineup for the 1994 Rangers looked like this.
Davis RF
Rodriguez C
Canseco DH
Clark 1B
Gonzalez LF
Palmer 3B
Greer Cf
Lee 2B
Beltre SS
Rogers P

I had just moved to Dallas and got a job, and I bailed early for a “doctor’s appointment” to catch an afternoon game against the A’s. Park gave up a pair of solos and Delucci’s 2 RBI in the bottom of the 9th won it. I was with my Dad and Grandfather. It was a perfect day.

I am drawing a complete blank on which Davis we had at that time to play RF.

Also....
was at the Clemens vs. Ryan duel in 1989. That was actually a better game not quite as amazing crowd but close.

The Greinke vs. Ponson duel last year won't get the same hype, but it was one of the better pitching matches I had seen in a long time.
It was a cool April afternoon with a crowd of about 2,000.

I remember
going over to a friends house to watch that game on HSE since we didn’t have cable. I can still remember Norm Hitzges talking about it after the game to this day. Ha.

Nolan Ventura game was my biggest "in person" game
but the most fun was Japan – Korea in the 2006 World Baseball Classic.

I was at the
USA-Mexico and USA-South Africa WBC games. Those were an absolute blast to be at in person, especially the Mexico game.

I'm happy they are playing again in San Diego
because it means I get to go again this year (I’ve bought a full set already), but they really should rotate the games around the country. I think this is one of those events that needs personal exposure. I’m convinced that once someone sits in a stadium with nationalistic pride + baseball combined they’ll be a fan of the WBC. You just can’t get the same experience on the tele.

they are
i wish they were playing in the new nationals stadium (less than a mile from my place) but it would be cold here…

Maybe I'll Watch...
…in ’94 at the time of this game I was hiking in Colorado and when I got off the trail back to the real world I called my parents and this perfect game is the only news my dad had for me. I was a pissed off 14 year old when I heard I missed a K Rog perfect game.

I was playing the tail end of a good little league season..
my dad was the coach and always would have a radio in the dugout when there was a rangers game on when we were playing. He told me there was a PG through 6. Well I was pitching in our lil lg game so I proceeded to strike out the next 6 kids over 2 innings on like 20 pitches so we could get home to watch the rest of the game (we had to go over to the neighbors because of no cable). My dad and I caught the last inning. Awesome.

It's a shame
That one of your top 5 games at the Ballpark was the all-star game…that’s not your fault though, it’s just a fact that there haven’t been that many great games here in the last 15 years. I wonder where that will fall on a similar list 15 years from now?

Roger's prefect game
First game that I actually remember being at. 4 rows up from the Ranger’s dugout with my dad. I was young at the time so I didn’t understand what the importance of a prefect game was, and had to have my dad explain to me the whole trip back what it was and why it was so important. This is really the first time of my life where me and my father bonded over sports, and its a great memory for me.
Alas, we still have the tickets of the game, framed with the newspaper clips from the following day of the Dallas Morning News

Rangers-Tigers
Couple years ago when Rangers were down 10 and came back to win. Was there with my roommate, which made it better since he is from Detroit and a big Detroit fan.

I was at that game.
My Brother was going to ask me if I wanted to leave that inning but I was in line at the concession stand so we stayed. I would have not been happy. I think the last game I left was back in college when we were playing Boston and Lee Smith had that long streak without blowing a save. My roommate and I left when he came in and he proceeded to blow the save. Got home just in time to see it….

Watching the game now:
- The Angels broadcast is hilarious. Their out to commercials is a freeze frame of attractive women in the stands with cheesy synth soundtracks. They keep dogging Juan for not hustling out a routine grounder… using replays with Chili Davis to state their case
- Rusty was playing center field
- Bo Jackson was the Angels’ right fielder
- Canseco hit a homer and had an awkward handshake with Will Clark after crossing the plate

1986
Petralli hits a pinch-hit 2-run homer off of Clemens in the 8th to tie it. Sierra hits a walk-off in the 9th.
It was our version of Carbo and Fisk. And it was on national TV. Got us closer to the Angels, that was a fun and young team.

Definitely the biggest Ranger game I've been to...
we had seats that were about halfway up the upper deck. I believe we mainly went to that game because it was Will Clark t-shirt giveaway day or something like that.

I was there for the perfect game
and i thought it was unusual that nobody around my seats even knew that Rogers had a perfect game going after the 5th inning was over. I had to tell everyone. The first thing they did was to look at the scoreboard to see if I was kidding. Aren’t Ranger fans great?
I got there during batting practice and was awed by Conseco. I never liked the guy but his show was a thing of beauty. I said, after he finished BP, that he would hit 3 homers that night. I think he hit 2. (Been a long time ago and my memory has faded a bit) It was a once in a lifetime experience though. The most exhilarating moment came when Rusty had to dive for the ball headed towards the right-center gap. I think that was the 8th inning? I literally couldn’t breathe.
I remember also that Chili Davis was on a bit of a hot streak at the time and I was very fearful everytime he stepped to the plate. I think he hit at least 2 balls hard that night. Seems to me that one was a rocket line drive straight to the left fielder.

Was anyone else getting nervous...
like you know how the game is going to end, but you stop thinking about it being a replay and he gets that 3-0 count and you’re thinking, “crap he’s gonna blow it.” Then you know Rusty makes the diving catch to save the day, but you’re still worried it’s going to pop out as he hits the ground. I don’t know, maybe it’s just me.

500,000+...
After speaking to numerous Rangers fans about this game over the past 14 years, I am convinced the Ballpark had more than 500,000 in attendance.
