Me thinks
Brendan S. from Carrollton is complete buffoon.
The worst thing about being a Rangers fan.....hope.
yeah, that was either
utter idiocy or a failed attempt at a joke.

I just spit orange juice...
…all over the keyboard when I read the Blalock thing. Apparently it still works. A little sticky, though…
Ironic

I’m thinking TR isn’t really jazzed about this addition to the page. His answers were a bit, short.
sorry for the extended hiatus but MLB.com has been reviewing our content and ultimately it was decided that we wanted the mailbag back, mainly by popular demand.
I believe the demand wasn’t very popular for TR.

heh
that explains why the mailbags are always so terrible

+1
He seems to put about as much thought into them as I do picking out my underwear every morning.
We couldn't have known it at the time but we definitely killed the wrong Belushi brother.
that's debatable
Have any Ranger pitchers gone on the D L today? No? O K I'll check back in 10 minutes.
What do you know...
…about my underwear drawer?
Every once in a while it seems that items in it have been rearranged overnight. Anything you would like to confess?

in the mailbag department. ive never been much of a fun for T.R. but every now and then he manages to reach down and pull out just enough competence to convince me he’s not a complete ignoramus. ive just never read any of his work and walked away impressed in any meaningful way.

how could you not be impressed
by wild trade proposals and vague non-answers to questions?!

Well this is a blue collar ballclub
We wear flannel, drink ’merican beer, and always read the T.R. mailbag, waiting for such poignant queries like:
“Would the Rangers be willing to give up Josh Hamilton for Tim Wakefield? They’d get the veteran pitcher to anchor their lineup for years!”

True
that Hamilton one was the one I could remember most vividly though.
Also wasn’t there a MY/Byrd for Lincecum on there a few months ago?

TR’s not a bad writer (like a few DFW columnists I could mention) he’s just not a very good one, either. I think the threshold for an informed understanding of baseball seems to have passed him up, and unlike EG, he’s made no attempt to catch up to the curve (in fact he seems to be becoming more and more set in his “old school” mentality, if anything) – and as a result, his opinions and conclusions are becoming less and less relevant.
At this point, all he’s really good for is writing fluff pieces for TXR.com, and occasionally scooping the local media on roster moves during the season.
