Neat read
I am so impressed with the gracious Vizquel and how he’s handling the twilight of his career.

I like Passan
I agree on both counts, good article and refreshing perspective from Vizquel. He’d rather be a utility player helping Andrus than not playing baseball, so he’s cool with it. Kudos to JD for a great addition to this year’s team. I’m convinced that Omar will make Elvis a better SS in the long run.
Doctor please. Some more of these.

Jeff Passan
Such a writer, even with hackneyed baseball.
Agree on Vizquel. And Andrus just comes off as next-level, like he’s so confident he doesn’t know he’s confident.

Too bad Kam Loe is gone
I think he and Omar would have hit it off
Omar Vizquel went to Venezuela this winter and caught an anaconda. If that is on your bucket list, pay attention.
“This thing is 11 or 12 feet long,” Vizquel said. "You’ve got to find the tail and pull it out of the water and bring it to safe territory. It is dangerous in and out of the water, but you have to maneuver yourself to stay behind it. Once you’re behind it, you grab it by the back of the neck.
“It’s a fun thing.”

‘(Expletive) Dave Samson,’ then don’t say anything at all.
So I’m not going to say anything at all.
Is my mother the greatest or what?"

I agree about the handling of one's anaconda ...
You have to maneuver yourself to stay behind it. Once you’re behind it, "It’s a fun thing."
You lost Bradley and you seem like a bunch of arrogant sons of bitches, your pitching always sucks!!

Doesn't sound too impressed with his fundamentals.
Though, if you’ll allow Vizquel to hock a loogie on the lovefest, he’s not enamored of the way Andrus fields the ball. His legs are too spread out, Vizquel said, and he doesn’t bring the ball into his stomach the way Vizquel learned. He wants to mention these things, and then he thinks better of it, lest he undo years of instruction three days into his new camp. He’ll have plenty of opportunity to drop hints because neither shortstop is participating in this year’s World Baseball Classic.
"We’ve got a dilemma to deal with," Vizquel said. "It’s hard to change a guy. I want to leave him alone and let him figure out if it’s a benefit to him.
Get off my lawn.

Good read
Thanks Todd! And I like the drift of both Vizquel and Young pointing the future superglove toward continuous improvement, which he seems to have a nose for anyway. Great harmony can come from hashing out difficulties together.
Passan does write really well!
