OT: Your must-read blogs
Seems like kind of a slow day, so I figured I'd throw out an off-topic diary up here and see if we can get a good conversation going.
Obviously, if you're on LSB, you like blogs. Or you at least don't hate them with the fire of a thousand suns (cough Mitch Albom cough cough Buzz Bissinger cough).
So, what are the top five blogs that you can't live without? Where are you heading three, four, five, sixty times a day to check for updates, or what's on your feed aggregator (Google Reader, Feedburner, etc.)?
Let's all assume that LoneStarBall is somewhere on that list, so you don't have to waste a spot putting LSB on there. I'll start.
-Rock M Nation (SB Nation's Missouri blog; buddy of mine runs it)
(Also, if you can provide links, I'm sure everyone would appreciate it.)

Slow day?
First day of spring training play counts as a slow day, I guess?
Regardless, I read Deadspin and Lifehacker quite a bit, Consumerist isn’t good if you don’t like getting dicked around by major corporations. Also check out some Uproxx websites:

Edit:
Consumerist is good, blog about consumer reports, BBB investigations, customer service problems, etc.

yeah,
the writer from With Leather moved to Warming Glow. Hopefully, With Leather doesn’t suffer because of it.

Serious question...
What benefit do you get from econ blogs, like in your day-to-day life?
For the record I have a graduate degree in econ. (Not trying to big time you either, cause I remember little of grad school.)

What is this “Unholy Alliance” they are talking about on the missouri blog? They both join forces to aid in the downfall of KU, unless they play each other?

A friend of mine introduced me to The Dirty – Dallas just yesterday.
It’s a blog dedicated to the humilation of young Dallas socialites and scenesters, or as I like to refer to them as, the MySpace generation.
The really sad part about all this is that I’ve actually seen some of these fakes around town.
Fuckin’ thanks to all of these online profiles, nobodies keep becoming celebrities… who are celebrated for absolutely nothing. I guess their really original looks?
You watch too many movies Sax.
i think it was started out of scottsdale
i don’t mind it except that the site manager (nik) comes off like a pretty big douchebag in interviews and not unlike the people he makes fun of.
and then after a while you feel really dirty for reading it.
"To be ignorant of one’s ignorance is the malady of the ignorant."
yeah the original site
was mainly Scottsdale and ASU people and it blew up from there. On the ASU campus it’s a pretty big deal — the site even got the university to do away with the cheerleading program because of some “naughty” pics on the site. You can find them if you search for it I’m sure.

I use Sage Too
It’s a plug-in for firefox. I don’t really know much about readers but it works okay for me. A couple of my friends use bloglines and like it. I never tried it.
Anyway, to me Sage Too beats an online thing and it’s certainly better than live bookmarks. The only complaint I have is that there doesn’t seem to be a function to “mark all as read” or whatever.

I use Google Reader.
It’s the only one I’ve ever used, so I can’t judge others, but I like it. Especially if you use a lot of the Google stuff, it’s handy.

I just added your site to my “photos” folder in my reader.
“There Was an Incident” – do you know what happened that night? Normally we just ignore the alarm, but the spousal unit went out into the hallway and said the fire dept was heading past our floor up the stairs so we figured we ought to pack up the cat and leave. The only other time it went off long enough for us to actually leave, they distributed a letter the next day saying what happened.

Yeah
I know what happened. A transformer on the seventh floor blew up. I was standing by the window smoking a cigarette when I heard it. Sounded like a car bomb to me. It was one of the few times I paid attention to the alarm…I grabbed what I could and split. But I overheard the firefighters talking about it.
by Black Francis on Feb 25, 2009 9:26 PM CST up reply actions
AWESOME.
We noticed the power blinked (on 7, at least) maybe two or three minutes before the alarm started going off. Guess that explains that!
