If you're going to invoke Brower...

…don’t forget Oddibe McDowell, his platoon partner in CF in the late ’80s.

We couldn't have known it at the time but we definitely killed the wrong Belushi brother.

I was supposed to be retired by now...

…strictly off the profits I planned to make from the dozens of his Topps rookie cards (from the ’85 Olymoic set) I bought.

We couldn't have known it at the time but we definitely killed the wrong Belushi brother.

Oddibe

My friends and I always referred to him as “Oddibe Hittin’ Better.”

Heh

I had an 800 count sleeve of Mike Pagliarulo RCs that was surely gonna pay my college tuition.

I remember his baseball cards

I just never remember seeing Brower playing. Did they just make cards for him?

Had his shining moment in '87

14 HR, 15 SB .261 .338 .452 in about 300 ABs. He played RB at Duke, real good athlete, a poor man’s Len Dykstra. Flamed out and spent his last year in the Bronx.

Andruw in CF!

I love the OF depth already. Maybe it’s my own giddy February Madness, Andruw Jones may be the penny stock that rebounds. By July, many GM’s may want his less than $1 million contract. He could be a Gagne-like trade Part 2. Am I dreaming? Probably.

I agree with you in principle

I don’t share your unbridled confidence though. I do forsee him being the starting CF, and I’m not sure its a bad thing.

Hammy seems a better fit in RF, I don’t see Byrd getting an opening day nod, and since Cliff Lee will probably be the starting pitcher against the Rangers, I don’t think we’ll see Murphy playing either. The outfield that day will be Cruz/Jones/Hamilton.

Tom Goodwin

I was so stoked when the Rangers got him. I just looked at stats and I have no idea what was f’in wrong with me in 1997. F’d up on something I guess.

It's going to be either Jones or Hamilton.

As a pessimist, I voted for Jones.

It SHOULD be Byrd, though. Unless Jones magically rediscovers his form, which I wouldn’t be opposed to.

Same here.

Yeah. Spies. They're little guys with beady eyes and long fingernails. They plant bugs that can pick up the hush of a man's heartbeat - or the whisper of a falling hair.
