I hope Alex Rodriguez didn't cheat. If we do find out that he cheated, I will wish that he hadn't. But whatever happens, I'm not going to change my opinion that he's a great baseball player. Like many of the greatest players, he'll do whatever it takes to be the best player he can be. For a stretch of five or 10 years -- and yes, perhaps even today still -- being the best player could have meant cheating. Maybe the cheaters were wrong; that's the direction in which I lean, probably because I've got a streak of the moralist in me. But I will not sit idly while great athletes looking for an edge -- not all that different from the many generations before them -- are demonized by the high priests of baseball opinion. I will not.

The golden rule of baseball
has always been, “If you aren’t cheating, you aren’t trying hard enough to win”.
Get off my lawn.

I applaud his stance. I’m assuming that he voted McGwire for the HoF. If so, good for him, if not, that would seem inconsistent.
"drawing walks is an overrated trait in my eyes."

Not a hypocrite
Unlike many a baseball writer who knew exactly what was going on and chose not to say anything about it. Now that the truth is out, they sit on their high horse and judge.
It really burns me that these guys vote on who gets into the Hall. Now they want to dismiss just about everyone who played in this era – yet they can’t define when it actually started – and if they really think it’s over, they are as naive as they are stupid.

yep
its one of my biggest pet peeves and i’ll probably always be pissed off about the way the national media vilified baseball and anyone within a ten feet poll of steriods… Seriously, they were doing what so many others were doing, there are probably hundreds of other baseball players and countless athletes in other sports who are glorified for being a professional athlete yet they also took steriods but no one knows about it. Come on, this is like the Salem Witch hunt or the Spanish Inquisition, it just seems like that form of naivete reciprocated in a national blitz on anyone who used steriods even if it was once and for some injury. Bye, bye HoF, if they’re not gonna vote anyone associated with steriods into the HoF then they probably should just not vote anyone who started playing in the Majors after 1980 up til now.
Chris (NJ): I am personally offended at how you ranked a prospect from my favorite team, even though I do not know said prospect, nor have I ever seen him play. In my opinion you only have your job because, like your employers, you have an unholy bias towards my favorite team’s rival. Also, you’re short.
Keith Law: You’re right. I am short.
