Is there something up with TR, or the MLB blogs?  And what is with the helicopter image?  It looks like comments are closed on the article.

I assumed

he was just taking a bit of a vacay. And that he just happens to like that poem.

I could be wrong though.

Spring Training

would be an odd time for a baseball writer to take vacation……

Yep.

I’d say more likely he quit/was fired.

I put some comments on this in the Fan Shot section

But more so, after reading the wiki info, I would add the following to the list of possibilities.

  • Diagnosed with something(cancer, other bad thing)

This is our year.

Actually

To me its sounds a bit suicidal or defeated. I have absolutely no info on this and no apparent reason to say this, but it sounds to me like a sudden fall from grace (ie, something will be exposed)

I miss 1989. I miss 1996. Please make me miss another season in 2008.

Hmm

I took it as the kind of message you put up when someone close to you dies, and you want to step away for a few days.

Scout: He was a first-round pick right? Got a huge bonus?
KG: Oh yeah.
Scout: Well, he spent a lot of it on milkshakes.

Ah

That sucks. I know I like to rag on him a lot, but he has my sincere condolences on that.

Thanks for clearing this up Jamey...

…hopefully all the speculation will die down now.

We couldn't have known it at the time but we definitely killed the wrong Belushi brother.

He's been

Recording the web interviews quite frequently….maybe he’s just busy with other things.

"Well-well look. I already told you: I deal with the god damn customers so the engineers don't have to. I have people skills; I am good at dealing with people. Can't you understand that? What the hell is wrong with you people?"-Tom Smykowski Office Space.

and then I actually

read the other comments and find the answer. Kinda backwards but that’s how I roll.

Gee...

Had I been in T.R.‘s shoes, I would have just come out with the news rather than be mysterious about it. But then, that’s why he’s great and I’m a school bus driver.
