you must be a minor league masher

he’s 25 with a career minor league line of .300/.390/.474 , including .304/.370/.500 last year in the PCL. I haven’t seen him play, but those are some outstanding numbers for a catcher.

He looked horrible in the majors last year

and is hitting under .200 this year in spring training. I know both of those are small sample sizes, but if the Astros thought he could do in the majors what he did in the minors, he would have gotten more of a chance last year and they wouldn’t have signed Pudge.

Of course, the Astros are 1-14 this spring (with two ties), and their catching has been abominable, so this isn’t really surprising.

I feel bad for the kid

he had viral meningitis, got out of the Hospital on Dec 11, and is now having seizures as a side effect of coming of the meningitis medication…

poor kid..

But yeah, he has been a massive flop as a 1st round pick…

Sad...

Pudge is my favorite Ranger of all time, and to see him in a uniform other than a Ranger one makes me sad. However, this was inevitable and I know signing with the Rangers made no sense, so I’m glad he’ll be getting playing time at least.
