Max Ramirez Finally Playing
So I dont know if this really qualifies for a post, but Max Ramirez is finally playing 1B tonight in the WBC for Venezuela instead of a late PH. In which he has a total of 5 ABs. I hate that Venezuela took him and has limited his at bats its stupid. It would be nice for him to constantly see big league pitchers and see what he could do. But I do love the WBC though and am going to LA for the finals.

it will be interesting to see who the US gets for the finals
I heard Longoria will probably be on the team. They have to replace Youkilis, Chipper, Lindstrom for sure and possibly Braun

remind me why?
injuries?
Scout: He was a first-round pick right? Got a huge bonus?
KG: Oh yeah.
Scout: Well, he spent a lot of it on milkshakes.

yea
youkilis left because of an ankle, chipper has a strained oblique i think, braun has something strained (maybe oblique also) and lindstrom has a strained rotator cuff

Good play to keep a surefire double
a race to 1st between the batter and pitcher.
He looks good so far at 1st

30 Clubs/30 Days
They showed a clip of him in the batting cage, and did discuss him briefly in the interview with Daniels.
It was a little weird having Rojas, Mitch Williams, and Hart talking Rangers, though they did acknowledge right off the bat that they’d all had ties with the club.

Yea great play
especially with Granderson speed that would of probably been a triple. All this kid does is make plays. Last year with Rangers as a catcher.

He's one of the more memorable players from my child hood.
My brother and I constantly mocked him for his ugliness when he was a Rockie.

what would you think if....
Hank Blalock swings like he did as an All-Star, Max Ram continues and include a prospect or two for a Matt Cain or Sanchez posssible?
by RRiders on Mar 18, 2009 7:49 PM CDT reply actions 0 recs
Well, the Giants specifically don't need a catcher
Blalock/Max might be able to bring back someone like Sanchez I guess, but not Matt Cain.

Are you saying Hank plus a prospect or Max plus a prospect
Because I don’t see SF giving up a young pitcher for a couple months of Hank and considering they just drafted Posey they have no need for a catcher. Don’t know about their 1B prospects other than Villalona whos a ways away but I don’t think either of those guys are enticing to SF.

the problem with the match with the giants
is that they have posey at catcher and sandoval/villanola at 1b
which makes em a touhg match

harold reynolds is killing me
with his constant references to “the captain” and what a professional he is. And i’m pretty sure he has no access to stats or anything. He just tries to recall things off the top of his head. Like relief pitcher appearances and who has pitched recently.

Trade Blalock to Astros to get Max in the lineup?

Maybe we could get something decent from the Astros for Blalock.

You wouldn't have to twist my arm.
Blalock’s not being mentioned over at Crawford Boxes, though. Sounds like they want a platoon situation w/ Blum.

The few players they do have of value they’ll probably be reluctant to trade.

That second statement
is the key part to me. We’d be happy to bring in Norris, Bogusevic, and a few others, but given how thin Houston has gotten, they can’t really afford to part with those types for a one year contract with a big injury past.

by trgordon723 on Mar 18, 2009 10:25 PM CDT reply actions 0 recs
It's either him or DeRosa
“The Greek God of Walk” is out for good and the only other true 1B that the US has on it’s provisional roster that they can pull emergency players from is Derrick Lee and he has a sore quad. The Nationals didn’t want the US playing Dunn at 1B and told them as much. The Indians also told the US that they wanted DeRosa playing on the left side of the infield as much as possible. Braun is hurt but they said he should play and Longoria is being pulled from the provisional roster for the rest of the WBC. Fun times.
