Andruw Jones not expected to opt out

Jeff Wilson says that Andruw Jones is not expected to opt out of his contract on Monday, despite the fact that he's been told that, if he makes the team, it would be as the 5th outfielder/part-time DH/part-time PH.

Either Hank Blalock or Frank Catalanotto would likely have to be dealt for Jones to make the team, according to Wilson, and that doesn't appear likely.

Why must we

go through this every single year with some has been when they almost never are desparate enough for another bat to warrant the bother of it all.

It's not just Daniels

this is a Ranger affliction going back more years than he’s been around.

So

Boras checked around the league, no one else wants ‘Druw, and we’re sticking with him.

JD has his beer goggles on. This is like taking the unwanted girl(Jones) home from the bar, and forgetting you gotta wake up next to her. Stick with your hand(Boggs, Arias, etc).

No

Let your hand stay down in the minors and play everyday, not sit the bench in Arlington racking up service time and getting about half a dozen ABs a week

I don't know

If the estimated ABs for Jones as RH DH is 280, that’s what Boggs got last year. He could DH, play a little outfield, PH for Andrus, and pinch-run a little. He’s 26, I think he gonna have to be a part-time player anyway.

Besides, Do you wanna take the fat girl home?

I think 280 is waaaaaaaaaaaaay too high a prediction

Boggs played on a very consistent basis up until Nelson Cruz came up last year so with Cruz and a healthy Murphy (who was out last year when Cruz was up) I don’t see a whole lot of ABs available

I'm surprised

that folks think Jones time will come at the expense of Boggs or Arias. Most likely it will come at the expense of Cat or a trade for Byrd.

Get off my lawn.

I actually think Cat or Jones's time will come at the expense of Boggs.

I’m kind of treating them as the same entity that I don’t want anything to do with right now, but I do agree with you.

Brandon Boggs is a sweet girl, and most people would be happy to have such a sure thing.

Sure, she’s never been a model and she never will be, but you know she’ll stick with you and you know she could prove to me just the girl you need.

Hope you enjoy your view from the bench Andruw.

I think Boggs

and Duran would be better served going down and getting AB’s, a lot of them. Their development was not enhanced by sporadic PT last year. If Jones does anything, we can flip him and bring Boggs up in mid-season. If not, he and duran get a full season at AAA and next season Boggs takes Bydrs’s spot and Duran takes Vizquel’s spot-both with a full season at OKC under their belt.

grant on age gate

He says Santana and Yan were retained but proved that their listed ages are correct. Three other “organizational type” players are still being held back.

Doctor please. Some more of these.

Good news on their ages

Now Santana just needs to mature beyond his years a little. Will be interesting to see what Yan can do this summer.
