You have missed out
on some good baseball.
Keith Law on Greg Golson, "He's similiar to Cameron and Hunter in that all three are black."
you have missed a ton...
What a great time it’s been.

hmm
Rollins at DH and Jeter in the field; seems a bit dumb.
Check the stats, absolutely, but look at the face.
-Bruce Jenkins
Not the entire time
but lately. He pissed Jeter off by benching him, so he decided that putting a vastly inferior lineup on the field was better than pissing his captain off.

Jeter sucks SO BAD
Why not have Rollins in the field???

oh...I agree with BHill above
sorry

Check the stats, absolutely, but look at the face.

It's amazing to me that Davey Johnson is so obtuse
as to have Jeter at SS, Dunn at RF and Rollins at DH again.
is that supposed to be read with a certain accent?

i believe it's said

Dunn in RF has been such a joke.
"It doesn't look like he's trying. It kinda pisses me off," "He could throw 110 if he tried. The way it explodes out of his hand is really something special." ~ B-Mac on Feliz.
Yep. Victorino should be out there.
Check the stats, absolutely, but look at the face.

Soo....
We’re not the best baseball country anymore it would seem. At least we’re the best at basketball.
I don't know if we're the best baseball country or not.
But I do know Davey Johnson shouldn’t be your standard for determining that.
USA USA USA!!!
Keith Law on Greg Golson, "He's similiar to Cameron and Hunter in that all three are black."
Ya
Longoria pinch hitting wasn’t something a team that wants to win does. You got the lefty Victorino there for that situation. Stupid.
Davy Johnson is an idiot
You expected more? This is the guy that has Jeter as ss Dunn in the OF and Rollins at DH.
Keith Law on Greg Golson, "He's similiar to Cameron and Hunter in that all three are black."
Victorino
probably should have been playing RF in the first place. That might have saved at least 2 runs in that big inning for Japan.
Victorino in his career...
…against RHPs:
751 OPS.
Last season: 762 OPS.
Longoria: 890 OPS

two runs, you can come back from
3 runs? A whole different ball game.
"This report of my death was an exaggeration"--Mark Twain
Rollins should have been at 3b
God I hate Jeter.
Keith Law on Greg Golson, "He's similiar to Cameron and Hunter in that all three are black."
No question about it
Keith Law on Greg Golson, "He's similiar to Cameron and Hunter in that all three are black."
Meant ss not 3b
Keith Law on Greg Golson, "He's similiar to Cameron and Hunter in that all three are black."
Johnson is an idiot
Keith Law on Greg Golson, "He's similiar to Cameron and Hunter in that all three are black."
Stick a fork in them
Keith Law on Greg Golson, "He's similiar to Cameron and Hunter in that all three are black."
After watching this
if anyone ever tells me that OF defense doesn’t have that big of an effect, I think I am fully justified in punching them in the face.

Johnson is getting torched on ESPN
Keith Law on Greg Golson, "He's similiar to Cameron and Hunter in that all three are black."
And there are some that wanted him here
Keith Law on Greg Golson, "He's similiar to Cameron and Hunter in that all three are black."
At any position
Keith Law on Greg Golson, "He's similiar to Cameron and Hunter in that all three are black."
If I had to pick
I would rather have Board game over Dunn
Keith Law on Greg Golson, "He's similiar to Cameron and Hunter in that all three are black."
Just not on board with Dunn that is all
Keith Law on Greg Golson, "He's similiar to Cameron and Hunter in that all three are black."
Nope just don't like him
I guess I could tell you I don’t like how much he K’s a year but it really just comes down to I don’t think he would be a good fit here. JMO and no it has nothing to do with him being a Longhorn.
Keith Law on Greg Golson, "He's similiar to Cameron and Hunter in that all three are black."
Okay
Why do y’all think Victorino should have hit instead of Longoria?
I didn’t understand that complaining.
by Adam J. Morris on Mar 22, 2009 10:13 PM CDT reply actions
I don't have a problem with that so much as I do
With the lineup with players out of position.
Keith Law on Greg Golson, "He's similiar to Cameron and Hunter in that all three are black."
Because Longoria has a big looping swing
And Victorino is a contact hitter. Or is that wrong?
by Slick-ish24 on Mar 22, 2009 10:16 PM CDT up reply actions
So what?
Longoria is a better hitter than Victorino.
by Adam J. Morris on Mar 22, 2009 10:17 PM CDT up reply actions
super small sample
but he couldn’t bring in dero from third
by kevinkinsler on Mar 22, 2009 10:18 PM CDT up reply actions
Okay
Longoria is still a better hitter than Victorino.
by Adam J. Morris on Mar 22, 2009 10:21 PM CDT up reply actions
i liked the move to...
but bringing in such a young guy in his first WBC game might not have the best approach,
of course, I don’t know Evan’s “clutch” batting stats
by kevinkinsler on Mar 22, 2009 10:24 PM CDT up reply actions
Evan's pretty clutch
late and close situations:
.333/.435/.754
and he’s better in high leverage situations than Victorino.
Stability is key, and JD is a Beast.

"AMMIITAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAABHH!!!"
Close and late for one season is a ridiculously small sample
the preceding post was a great success.
his numbers in high leverage situations
kinda show it won’t be luck…
Stability is key, and JD is a Beast.
Jindal - 2012
"AMMIITAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAABHH!!!"
Luck? What? And how many at bats has he had in these high leverage situations?
I don’t see the close and late stat on his espn page for some reason, but I do see a 1 for 20 in the world series and a .918 ops with noone on compared to .783 with RISP.
I wouldn’t even care if all those numbers were positive, its all too small a sample. It just proves what he did for that one season which is fine, but its not enough to establish some ability.
But again, Longoria is a better hitter than Victorino and I didn’t care about the appearence but as far as I can tell what stats there are don’t even support him being particularly clutch.
the preceding post was a great success.
Longoria
He played in the World Series last year.
I think he can handle the pressure of the WBC.
by Adam J. Morris on Mar 22, 2009 10:29 PM CDT up reply actions
Dunn DH, Rollins SS has been beyond obvious from day 1
Jeter can go back to the yankees for all i care.
the preceding post was a great success.
Cpt. Turdball really showed up there.
Keith Law on Greg Golson, "He's similiar to Cameron and Hunter in that all three are black."
But his eyes sure looked calm. And inspirational.

Cow patty tossing champion?
Keith Law on Greg Golson, "He's similiar to Cameron and Hunter in that all three are black."
dangit, didn't see this thread
basically, Davey Johnson sucks, Jeter is a pos, and the way some of these players are playing and the way these coaches are managing is just embarrassing.
Stability is key, and JD is a Beast.

should be 2 on, 0 outs
but noooo, jeter wants to hack on 3-1

you know,
it’s like these announcers don’t even give a shit about this either
"This report of my death was an exaggeration"--Mark Twain
I agree with what they were saying earlier
Have a defined set of starters, don’t bring in multiple all stars for a position and go back and forth messing with it.
Then fill the active roster with guys who you have less pressure to get in the lineup and can actually be reserve players, and have the other stars on the provisional roster in case of injury.
the preceding post was a great success.
Why aren't more of these Japanese players
in the MLB? They own our American players asses. At least the ones who have enough sac to play in this tournament.
Maybe they'll let Dunn come all the way around on fielder indifference.
by NorCalRangersFan on Mar 22, 2009 10:24 PM CDT reply actions
ouch Dunn
right down the middle.
Stability is key, and JD is a Beast.
Jindal - 2012
"AMMIITAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAABHH!!!"
first
time I have seen him on tv and that pitch looked pretty filthy, especially if you are looking for that 94-96 fastball.
Jeter
again Team USA made the mistake of starting Jeter. He is washed up and worn out. I don’t know why he is on the team.
obviously, I couldn't agree more.
Derek Jeter sucks. How's that for a quote.
by rangerdanger on Mar 22, 2009 10:29 PM CDT up reply actions
Because he is practically the face of MLB
He it the most recognized player in the USA. Except for maybe A-Rod, who is not recognized for the wrong reasons.
