We have someone who wants to bench Chris Davis to start the season so Marlon Byrd can DH and Hank Blalock can play first base, someone who wants to know what we are going to do with Davis once Justin Smoak is ready at the end of the season, and inquiries about trading for Jake Peavy or pursuing Josh Beckett or Brandon Webb at season's end...

Arias is going to AAA and expected to learn multiple positions. Translation: he is not a candidate for the UIF job. I know, that dismisses the “what’s the holdup” part, which itself is an assumption.

Feliz to Frisco?
I keep seeing predictions placing Neftali Feliz with the Roughriders? Why? He certainly beat the snot out of Frisco last year, why not send him to OKC with Holland?
If his secondary pitches still need work, he can work on them in Oklahoma as well as Frisco. (unless they want him nearby for a spot-start. but I doubt that.
Heck, if his secondary pitches need work, he could be a short man in the bullpen in Texas and blow people with his heat while he works on his secondary pitches on other days.
I think either one makes some sense
I don’t like it when depth charts impact assignments for top players, but that could happen here, depending on how things go. There are several candidates for the AAA rotation. Anyway, the counter to your valid point is that Feliz only has 127 full season innings under his belt and 45 above Low A. And while he was very solid in AA, he didn’t dominate. An argument could be made to consolidate his success in AA last year with a little more time before he moves forward.
Again, I’d be fine with either assignment for him.

No more poking fun at TR mailbags because...
From my perspective, the move to hold onto Jones is a classic TR mailbag move. “Hey, Andrewu Jones just got cut by the Dodjers. Can’t we sign him and have him hit 50 homeruns in our jetstream for righties this year?”
The idea seemed bad when he showed up and worse now that we see the implications (he plays no defense). But that sure isn’t stopping management from following through. From now on, all moronic proposals have to be taken a little more seriously. This Jones move isn’t any better than countless TR mailbag proposals.
