That's too simple
"My mother always taught me that if the only thing you have to say is,
‘(Expletive) Dave Samson,’ then don’t say anything at all.
So I’m not going to say anything at all.
Is my mother the greatest or what?"

It's funny
The earlier poll about Jones, 62% of the people here wanted Jones added, now they don’t? Clearly, adding Jones was bad from the start with it only hindering the development of the young outfielders. It’s time JD actually stood up to those wanting these BAD decisions to develop. If Jones were suddenly to revert back to 2005 form with some hidden miracle(new drug), he’s not going to be around long per Boris anyway, and the chances of that are nill.
When John Ehrlichman, the President's counsel and assistant, asked Nixon why he kept Agnew on the ticket in the 1972 election, Nixon replied that "No assassin in his right mind would kill me."[
It takes away
ABs from Blalock thus hurting his value. It may also take ABs away from Davis and possibly Byrd, Murphy and Cruz.
Elvis Andrus - 2009 AL Rookie of the Year
Blalock and Davis
haven’t got enough ABs this spring training? Really?
Gosh, I didn’t realize that Andruw’s 33 spring training at bats were completely destroying the team.
Get off my lawn.
If he cuts in to the playing time of any of these:
Murphy
Cruz
If he interferes with any of these being called up:
Borbon
Golson
Boggs
Then he is hindering someone’s development.
Either he blocks someone at the Major league level, or he blocks someone playing in AAA, either way.
The Rangers just don’t need him now or for the future, he is just as worthless as Cat. Cat I think would accept a pitch hitting more then this guy, if were talking about the 25th roster spot.
It is another bad signing.

yeah
clearly signing an NRI is the same as adding someone to the 25.
From now on, if the Rangers management have any inkling that someone isn’t going to make the roster, they should never even utter their name

I disagree
There is a big difference between inviting former good players in for a rebound shot in spring training and actually putting them on the team. A good GM always has a few such projects in camp – sometimes they work out, most of the time they don’t. The original invitation of Jones to camp was not a bad move. It was a smart move.
Spring training at bats are incredibly overrated. If guys aren’t playing in ‘A’ games, they’re probably in some scrimmage or ‘B’ game somewhere. I’d prefer to use my ST ABs on guys like Jones to find out if they actually will figure out how to hit again. Talk about a risk-free investment.
I think
they could have not signed most of those NRIs and instead have spent the money signing Juan Cruz, this would have helped the team more. I mean their not free.

The money for the NRIs
would never total what Cruz makes. Right now, they are only getting meal money, until they are added to the 25.
Get off my lawn.
Juan Cruz...
ugh, ugh, ugh.
If not having Juan Cruz proves to be the difference between the Rangers making or missing the playoffs, I’ll stop criticizing the mindless Hicks/JD bashing. But in all seriousness, there were 29 other teams who weren’t impressed enough by Juan Cruz to sign him. I don’t think he’s that big a deal.
Keep Jones... Dump Cat...
At least with Jones there’s the potential for some upside…
If it means taking ABs away from Blalock, Murphy, and Byrd, who cares?
I just can’t imagine it would drastically alter the AB/GP/PAs Davis would see, so long as he gets going well and not in a severe slump…
Sammy Sosa
You mean the guy who actually put up decent numbers in the race for ABs between Sosa and Jason “i can’t hit major league pitching” Botts?
The point is
that he batted way too many times…if he played in the right games against the right pitchers it wouldnt be that bad…but Wash didnt do that
the same will be true if we keep the worthless sack of crap known as AJ
ot: cowboys
they just got 2 more picks in the draft, extra 5th, and an extra 6th. (compensatory picks). 11 picks in total.

Crap
I read the question as “Do you want Andruw Jones to drive his Mercedes directly into the Grand Canyon once the Rangers break camp?” and then voted yes. Where can I change my answer?
Dreaming of 2009
So now Jones is not only probably going to make the team, but we are considering batting him clean up? Really? This is getting absolutely ridiculous. First we hear about the possibility of having the team cut payroll under $50 million and now we get to watch Andruw Jones take at bats away from Nelson Cruz, Chris Davis, and company?

Yawn
I think that all this is posturing that is part of a deal between the Rangers, Jones, and Boras. Give us another week to evaluate you before opting out, and we’ll hype you up a bit in the process. That way if Jones is released, Boras can point to the fact that the Rangers were even considering batting him cleanup, but opted to go with their younger players instead.
I really doubt Washington
would be saying some of the things he does in that article if he weren’t thinking about it. I’m really starting to think this could turn out horribly. I feel a Richard Hidalgo situation is on its way.

Jones hitting fourth today

Clues into Washington's thought process
1. Andruw has hit fouth before
2. There will be times when Andruw isn’t in the lineup and Cruz will hit fourth
I really hate this mentality and hope he’s just sort of saying stuff, rather than revealing how he’ll approach his lineup.

hmm
i don’t mind the idea of bringing in Jones at the start of spring training to see if he has anything left but i don’t think he has shown he really has anything left. If you cannot find a trade partner for Cat, then i would keep Cat over Jones.
born to destroy
I think....
Anyone who voted yes for this poll should be permanently blacklisted for the rest of eternity
there is absolutely no reason for AJ to be here if his D is not a + in CF
What if the Rangers think his D + O
will be more than another player who is currently occupying the 25?
Get off my lawn.
???
It has been pretty well stated and covered that his D has been atrocious…there is a reason why he is being talked about as a DH and only a DH
There is another player
whose D is so atrocious all he can do is DH or PH. Think long and hard about it.

...
We all know who that is and we’ve all acknowledged that many times. That doesnt discount the fact that cat isnt going to take ABs away from other players like Jones will. Furthermore, Wash and Co. have not played Cat more than he should…i dont trust them to do the same with AJ
the 2 players cant simply be looked at side by side. They exist on separate planes
Yes, they can be looked at side to side
and if RWash consistently misuses the 25 men he is giving, why the hell doesn’t JD can his ass. Maybe because JD is in way over his head when it comes to running a major league franchise? Maybe they should demote him to minor league supervisor if he can’t keep his manager under control.
