That's

disturbing…and oddly mesmerizing all in one small picture. Great way to start out a game day thread.

Tuesday pitch counts:
The king of Peoria, Brandon MCarthy, is slated to throw five innings or 80 pitches today. McCarthy has allowed just one hit over his last two starts, both of which were in Peoria.

Derrick Turnbow is down for one inning or 25 pitches. C.J. Wilson gets an extended run at 1 to 2 innings or 35 pitches. That’s the same workload for Josh Rupe today. If there’s any room left, Jimmy Gobble could get some work.

Blackgloverighty for rangers ace 2009.

5 innings, 3 hits, 1 walk, 3 Ks, 1 run.

I hope A. Jones

Blows a ACL running to first base today just to put an end to all of this. If Jones is on the Opening Day roster and is hitting clean up Wash and Rudy both should be fired on the spot.

AJ on the 25 man instead of Cat

is roughly a wash.

AJ playing every day and not producing would be on Washington. Not firing Washington would be on the GM.

If you’re asking, yes retaining both Washington & JD is a King Kong fuck up. Does that answer your question?

by Josey Wales on Mar 24, 2009 2:21 PM CDT up reply actions

Not really,

Just wondering if it surprised you that Nolan was in favor of keeping AJ and shares baseball feelings with Washington, with JD on the other side

by CS3 on Mar 24, 2009 2:30 PM CDT up reply actions

I don't have blind allegiance towards Nolan

but do respect him for ending the avalanche of incompetence that was so prevalent in the Ranger FO before he arrived.

If he favors keeping AJ, I think it’s a mistake but not on par with bringing back both JD & Washington.

by Josey Wales on Mar 24, 2009 2:34 PM CDT up reply actions

I have read how he has been playing

No I don’t have a crystal ball but just by judgeing what others have been saying I don’t want him hitting 4th. I could care less if he or Cat are the 25th man and a 4th or 5th OF. Quit being snarky. So I guess you would have him in the lineup every day?

Keith Law on Greg Golson, "He's similiar to Cameron and Hunter in that all three are black."

by boomer1 on Mar 24, 2009 1:49 PM CDT up reply actions

I can understand you not wanting him to bat 4th,

But that’s a way different position than saying that, based on what you’ve read about a players performance during ST, you would fire the head coach and hitting coach (potentially one of the best in the game) on the spot, when we don’t have an obvious clean-up hitter whatsoever, and they’ve been watching him in person (and are paid professionally to make these types of decisions).

There are a lot of other considerations, and although Rudy has missed, you can’t argue that Andrew Jones doesn’t have more talent than any of his past projects (Fulmer, etc.)

by BuckyB on Mar 24, 2009 2:06 PM CDT up reply actions

There is no reason for AJ

To bat 4th in this lineup. If Rudy and Wash think they can turn back the clock to 2005 or 06 well more power to them but from what I have seen and heard he has no business in the middle of the lineup.

Keith Law on Greg Golson, "He's similiar to Cameron and Hunter in that all three are black."

From Jason Cole's spring training notes ...
Matt Thompson probably had the most impressive inning I saw in Surprise. He definitely didn’t look like a pitcher that had an astronomical ERA in the AZL last year. Thompson pitched to four hitters and struck out three of them. His curveball showed signs of being close to plus.

Lovely. Imagine if this big kid starts missing bats like crazy this summer.

Explanations about the lineup

From T.R. Sullivan:

For those who like it official: Andruw Jones is still here. He did not take his free agency on the off-day. Instead he is batting cleanup at designated hitter against left-hander Jarrod Washburn and the Mariners in Peoria. Nelson Cruz is fifth.

Just a lineup that Washington wants to look at today in Peoria.

Hank Blalock is starting at first base. Chris Davis will follow him. Washington wants to play both at first base with Jones at DH. Blalock goes first because of his veteran status.

Ticket Question...

Anyone know if there’s any kind of exchange policy for individual game tickets before the date of the game? I’ve got tickets for the April 8 game, but not sure if I’ll be able to make it due to quarter close at work. Anyone know if I’d have any luck calling up and possibly getting these tickets exchanged for a different day?

I’ve traded in some mini-plan tickets last year at the Dallas office, but not individual tickets.

Does anyone else

sort of wish they would sort out the sports coverage over at insidecorner by sport? I like all DFW sports teams, but when I am looking for Rangers coverage, I don’t need to sort through a bunch of Mavs and Starts posts to find it. Am I being too picky?

How big do you need?

USB thumb drives are CHEAP these days. If you need 8 gigs, how about a USB drive on sale for $20 at Best Buy?

by Inkara1 on Mar 24, 2009 5:53 PM CDT up reply actions

Yeah, I got an 8 gig SD card and a USB adapter for it for about $15 on Amazon last week.

Using those for my phone.

The hard drive thing is appealing, though. I’m rebuilding my “collection of stuff that needs to be backed up” from scratch now (because I never backed up before my HD crashed last week), and the idea of using Apple’s Time Machine with the constant backup updates is very attractive to me.

I am very happy with the ones I bought from Western Digital

make sure you have the right connection type you want. USB, Firewire etc.. Makes sure you get 7400 RPM speed. Lower that that will casue lag problems between the 2.

If you are using USB connection only,it is not a huge noticeable difference between the RPM speeds becasue of the connection type transfer speed.

by laxtonto on Mar 24, 2009 6:11 PM CDT up reply actions

You could use Disk Image,
