Death match for right to play ss

Andrus is younger and faster but Young has a big arm that could rifle his GG at the head of Andrus.

did anyone see

the Bill Simmons mailbag? He talked about having negative VORP with the guy from Baseball Prospectus. One of the leaders of negative VORP last year was Andruw Jones. He was -16.9 I believe. That’s funny that he was so bad that a replacement player would have actually added runs to the team.

I wonder

if this is a prelude to my nightmare scenario that I’m afraid might happen a lot in the season (Jones – DH, Blalock – 1st, Davis – rotting on the bench) or if Davis really does need to rest the knee.

anyone seen mlb.com's al west preview?

their selection for the best lineup in the division…the a’s

"BEST LINEUP
As usual, the Rangers will score their fair share of runs, and the Angels will have the most versatile attack. The A’s, however, can feature a lineup that includes Garciaparra, Cabrera, Holliday, Giambi, Jack Cust, Eric Chavez and emerging star Ryan Sweeney. Oakland’s O is anemic no more.

Not really saying they think it’s the best lineup in the division, though.

He's a madridal clone, new pitching convert

has only pitched 7ip in AA but should come fast. The staff has been messing with his mechanics so I hope that helps rather than hinders his progression. The surgery was not major depending on what you mean that. It was a fracture of the tip of his elbow, no soft tissue damage. However, nonamecard suggests that his odd delivery might make him susceptible to this kind of thing.

by Goyogringo on Mar 31, 2009 4:27 PM CDT up reply actions

ok, just read on the ST blog

that he looks ok…

Harrison wasn’t done. He went to the back fields to pitch against minor leaguers and get his pitch count up to 100 or 110.

whew….

rumor is that

minor leaguers were coming over from the Royals camp to try to get an AB vs Harrison. :)

Jennings is fooling me now...

2 appearances:
6.2 innings
4 hits
1 walk
8 K
1 earned run

any chance he’s back to a decent level?

What a sad game.

Can AJM put up a countdown clock to Opening Day or something?
