Boggs’ profile pic at Frisco’s site was of an opposite raced man.

c'mon

a white man and black man are not opposite races. there is no “opposite” race.

now the actual color white and black may be opposites…

wonder what the opposite of asian would be considered…

Not an athlete but

Tyrone Wells (one of my favorite musicians) threw me for a loop. Even hearing his voice didn’t dissuade me from thinking he was black. Then I went to sell merch for him, and was shocked to discover he was a tall, bald white man. Ha ha.

Tyrone Wells.

Way, way, way underrated. And I thought the exact same thing: gotta be a black guy, right?

Turns out he’s whiter than a polar bear.

I think he’s on his way to more recognition. His latest album is fabulous. :)

it actually kinda is

he was bout to bring in the best freshman class, maybe ever if Wall commits, and most likely would have been in the final four with a good chance of winning it all next year with Memphis.

My guess is he stays in memphis if they moneywhipped him like UK did…

And now that he's gone

you have to assume that those two top players he signed will be released and will spend their year at another school. Wall presumably will go elsewhere. And Evans has already announced that he’s going into the draft. They’ve gone from the most promising program in the country for next season to possibly being in disarray, within a few days. It’s amazing how coach-centric college basketball is.

by Brett Perryman on Mar 31, 2009 8:40 PM CDT up reply actions

I heard today...

…that those two guys had an explicit provision in their LOIs letting them out if Calipari left. And supposedly, three Memphis players are requesting to be allowed to transfer to Kentucky.

If this is the case

rivals says most of the class has signed ‘a letter of intent’ (not sure which ones have ‘provisions’ as ajm points out though), but one 5star guy just ‘committed, but not yet signed’…

Kentucky- the ND FB of college basketball

The tradition doesn’t jibe with the youth of today, and if Calipari is only gonna bring these 1 year players, I think it will fail. Not ‘Charlie Weis’ fail, but I bet Izzo, Calhoun, et. al. will continue returning to the Final 4.

It worked with Carmelo, but I can’t think of other schools that won w/ the 1 year superstars. Also, over time Donovan will out-recruit him in the SEC. Nobody can outspend UF.

Weis did pretty well his first 2 years

and then Ty’s lack of recruiting got to the team in his 3rd, 4th years..

Also

Not really, you actually have to be a student athlete to get recruited by Notre Dame…

what about 'em

this is the year that will show. His biggest recruit (Clausen) was demolished behind a line built by your boy Ty a couple years ago, last year he got better with HIS recruiting class around him, and this is the year that his classes should show up and perform well. Those freshman and sophomore classes you’re talking about will be seniors and juniors this upcoming year.

Unless he has a great class this year, I’d imagine he wont be the coach come 2010.

i think the buy out is too large

even for ND, he’s sticking around no matter what happens…

Unless, of course, Urban decides he wants the job.

Yeah

Tebow will be leaving… perfect time for Urban to move on.

I think

in the long run, he’d regret it. That’s a great college town without the recruiting restrictions of ND. Tebow is a singular player, but I think he can continue to get the elite QBs to come to Gainesville. Even though UF has been the better program for over a decade, there’s still more pressure in South Bend.

I can’t believe Donovan almost went to the Magic, they have it made at UF, financially and competivitly. The grass ain’t always greener, but ND is his dream job, so who knows.

I'm just glad

we didn’t wait until round 8 or whatever when he would have still been around to get him. For a toolstastic guy like that, you want to use one of your high draft picks.

I'm always shocked

when a toolsy player that can’t hit gets drafted high and doesn’t work out. It never gets old, even after seeing it for at least 20 years.
