Around SBN: Win or Lose, Boston Celtics' New Big 3 Era A Success

Friday afternoon video

I'm so happy the Cowboys finally got rid of Terrell Owens.  I never liked him, never wanted him here, never thought he was worth the headaches he brought, and always felt he was one of the handful of players I just never wanted playing for my team.  It made me feel a little dirty to be a Cowboy fan with him wearing the Star.

So seeing him get the boot makes me happy.  And to celebrate that, I offer a clip of the famous "apology" press conference where we learned that if there is anyone who is a bigger ass than T.O., it is Drew Rosenhaus:

I'm somewhat indifferent about the TO thing

we probably needed to release him though, but if you think TO is the problem for most Cowboys related issues I’d disagree strongly. I blame last season’s poor team performance more on Garrett and Phillips. And to be honest, I think Jerry Jones was wishing that Garrett would get a head coaching job elsewhere. I know I was.

Too many financial obligations

preclude Jones from firing TO, Wade and Garrett.

He saved liked 6 million actual dollars by cutting TO

Well I could argue that he didn't save actual money

because he is paying someone who isn’t on the roster at the moment. He is paying for 0 productivity.

by Agreen07 on Mar 6, 2009 2:44 PM CST up reply actions

I could agrue that having him on the roster is counterproductive to success.

I'm not saying he's the problem for most Cowboys related issues

I don’t think anyone is saying that.

I’m saying I think he’s a giant jackass and I don’t want him on my team.

I guess I can agree with that.

Jerrah

I think you can lay all blame for the Cowboys on Jerry and his refusal to hire a good GM and let him hire a coach and then get out of their way.

its getting old and tired
and say what you want he has more super bowls and more experience than any other gm in the game

How many

Has he won while he was actually involved on the football side of things?

It’s old and tired and not going anyway, as it’s true.

When Jimmy was here...

…he had full control of the football operations.

Jerry didn’t start making football decisions until Jimmy was fired.

From what I've read and heard...

…it was Jimmy who engineered the Walker trade.

Jerry spent the first 3-4 years focused on the business side, because the team was hemorrhaging money and had a bloated administration.

Did Jimmy Johnson hold the title GM when he was here?

Terrell Owens

he’s good. The 2nd best of all-time as a matter of fact.

TO’s not even the all-time best among active WRs.

Moss might be 2 all-time.

In addition Marvin Harrison >> TO. No question in my mind.
Bruce and Holt may even be ahead of him. And that’s just active WRs.

Chris Carter might be ahead of TO. Then you have others from past eras to consider as well, Largent, Lofton, et al.

Shoot a TE might be a better all-time receiver than TO.

If you

saw Drew Rosenhaus on the street would you kick him in balls if you were guaranteed to get 3 nights in jail and a $250 fine?

Purgatory's kind of like the in-betweeny one. You weren't really shit, but you weren't all that great either. Like Tottenham.

My email to my brother-in-law when the story broke...

Thank God… I can finally go back to hating T.O.
I’m still pissed that Jerry made me a "fan" of his for the past 3 years.
Let’s go back to the George Teague hit of T.O. as the best T.O. highlight at Texas Stadium.

What’s your predicted record for this year? Will we finally win a playoff game?

Calvin Watkins: 6-10.

by Agreen07 on Mar 6, 2009 3:55 PM CST reply actions

there's no way that happens

first off we’re playing the AFC West, which should be win at least 3 wins. Plus, they should beat the Pack and Seahawks. Then, from the NFC South, they should win at least 2 of those. Go.500 in the division, and i got this team in the 10-6 or 9-7 range.

But I think 9-7 is not outside the realm of possibility.

I'm happy to that the Cowboys got rid of TO.

Should be funny with Roy Williams as the lead receiver. Maybe if Romo steals a Twinkie from Jessica and puts it on the football Roy will catch it.

i must have missed something somewhere

but, have people been talking about Roy being fat? I know the Roy we just fired is a bit chubby, even BP kept saying that he ’was a biscuit away from being a LB"…but the WR Roy is suppose to be fat? Really?

If this means Ratliff stays at NT, I don't get it.

If this is building towards a strong end rotation, I like it.

by LiamP on Mar 6, 2009 6:12 PM CST up reply actions

Yeah, I was kinda hoping for a true NT

But I guess Ratliff is pretty unique as he is now.
