If the M's had lost a couple of more games, they, rather than the Nationals, would be sitting pretty on taking him witht he #1 pick. Here are the money quotes:
"The day that I saw him pitch, his first fastball was 99 mph, and he was at 100-102 mph the rest of the way," says the scout, someone who is not inclined to hyperbole.
Yeah, heard he had a good fastball. Straight as a string, right? "That's the thing," said the scout. "Whenever you see a fastball at 100 mph, it's always straight. No movement. But his fastball has a lot of movement, which really doesn't make that much sense, because it's on the hitter so quickly. His fastball cuts."

The scout laughs. "You could put him in a rotation right now, and he could be a No. 2 or No. 3 starter," says the scout. "Right now, he's better than A.J. Burnett." So in other words, in this scout's eyes, Stephen Strasburg, the ace of the San Diego State Aztecs, is better than the No. 2 free agent pitcher in the offseason, and he could be the ace of the Washington Nationals by the end of the summer -- if they decide to take him.
Just think about this guy in Safeco. Bad, bad thoughts. Lets hope that the Nationals have enough sense to take him over anyone else. Or hope that Strasburg gets aggressive and says (and means it) that he won't sign with anyone other than San Diego.

It was hilarious when they swept the A's to end the year
You could hear the collective groan from LL.
As I said yesterday during WBC talk, a rotation of Felix/Strasburg/Morrow/Aumont has the potential to be shit-your-pants scary.
A lineup of
Hamilton, Davis, Smoak, Beltre, Borbon, Kinsler, Salty (or MaxRam for tricer :D), Andrus, and Young has the potential to be pretty shit-your-pants scary too.
By 2028, Mark Teixeira will be in the HOF.

I think you’d be hard pressed to find any pitcher who K’d 60% batters faced in any 3 game stretch at the div. I college level or higher. That’s just sick.

It’s just misleading to compare a guy’s first three games with the full seasons of other pitchers.
Trust me, I don’t need any convincing when it comes to Strasburg.

I wouldn't worry too much
The Nats would need to be incredibly stupid to not draft Strasburg. And Bowdens gone, which might have been the Mariner’s only hope.
i almost guarantee they draft/sign him
if they dont they may lose what little fanbase they have
evidently their radio numbers were so bad/low last year they couldnt be measured. let me say that again, their radio results were so bad they couldnt be measured.
the good news is that they have a section and a half of $5 walkup only seats that i will be taking FULL advantage of this coming year!

Really? A prospect that hasn’t faced major-league hitters would the #3 starter for a playoff contender immediately.
Makes me wonder who the scout works for.
