damn

no more chances to participate in the Brad Wilkerson Strikeout Drinking Game.,,,I got really drunk out at the ballpark when the rule was high and tight strikeouts=shotgunning your beer….

by kmoneytime on Apr 19, 2009 8:16 PM CDT reply actions

i can back him up on this.

guaranteed 3 beers slammed a night, that always made the ballpark a little more fun

mormons stole me and held me against my will with Oklahoma beer and 12+ hour work days.

Anybody know how much Brad made in his career, all total?

With this move, I’m guessing it’s enough for him to consider himself set, at least for now. And if he does, I applaud his decision. Better to move onto other things than bounce around the league as a shitty player for no real reason.

$$15M

plus any endorsements…

So he probably has 3-5M stashed away somewhere..

by laxtonto on Apr 19, 2009 8:50 PM CDT up reply actions

You know

I’m going through the list of 1998 first round draftees…a fascinating collection of names…

Pat Burrell, Mark Mulder, and Corey Patterson going 1-2-3. Carlos Pena in that draft. And J.D. Drew. Austin Kearns, Felipe Lopez, Sean Burroughs going 8-9-10. Gerald Laird in the 2nd round. Mark Prior a supplemental first round pick by the Yanks. C.C. Sabathia and Jason Tyner, separated by 1 pick and about 100 pounds. Chip Ambres and Choo Freeman, two blue chip college football recruits. Chris George. Ben Diggins. Nate Cornejo.

by Adam J. Morris on Apr 19, 2009 9:01 PM CDT up reply actions

Brad Lidge, too.

And Aaron Rowand Kip Wells, Felipe Lopez, Adam Everett and the immortal Jeff Weaver. Even Bubba Crosby.

Adam Dunn was a second round pick by the Reds – 5 picks after Laird!

Coach Washington inspires me to be an hero.

Ugh

Did you really have to mention Chip Ambres and Choo Freeman?

Oh how things might be different in Aggieland today…

Keith Law: (1:45 PM ET ) I think Michael Young should shut his mouth and move to third base.

Considering he made a little over 15M in his 8 year MLB career

looking forward to how well he was going to do in our park when he was traded here…feels a long longer than 3 years ago.

well, he did have that one 3 HR game with us.

the preceding post was a great success.

and

he stole a base on his first game with us. Everyone was so excited about that. “Mr. On Base Percentage”, “a new kind of leadoff man with power and speed”.

I still say the trade made sense on paper

There were so many problems with Sori while here. Not enough OBP to hit at the top of the order, too little pop to hit in the middle, too expensive for the bottom and horrible D at second.

I guess the question is: would people prefer to still have Sori here at second or Ian? Which of course leads to same tired discussion – should have forced him into the OF and had both. Whatever, there were still the issues I mentioned. Plus, he still wouldn’t be a Ranger today.

Remember Red, hope is a good thing. Maybe the best of things. And no good thing ever dies.

by WyoRanger on Apr 19, 2009 9:00 PM CDT reply actions

that brings back the praise when he was acquired.

A +obp and +power solid defensive centerfielder that was crushed by the nationals ballpark and could go back to the 30 hrs in arlington and would hit leadoff.

And in came the below average defensive left fielder with a .319 obp hitting down in the order.

People of course wanted ian to play and don’t regret trading sori in general, but you’d certainly make some other trade in retrospect… or rather just hang on to galarraga.

the preceding post was a great success.

by DShep on Apr 19, 2009 9:10 PM CDT up reply actions

OR

we could’ve just gone Frank Robinson on Sori and made him play LF.

Let’s see… how about:

as a payback for his horrendous play with us.
