Texas Rangers OF Nelson Cruz, PITCHf/x, and Plate Discipline
Using some stats from FanGraphs and the PITCHf/x data from the first 10 games of the season, I take a look at the viability of Nelson Cruz continuing to hit like he has been since his 2008 call up.

Quite encouraging
and a confirmation of gut feelings so far this year for many of us, I suspect.
Would you be willing to do a follow up in a couple of months to see what adjustments pitchers have made, and Cruz makes in response?

Possibly...
Given my current set up for using PITCHf/x for hitters, larger samples will be… uhh… cumbersome. If he gets on a huge hot streak or in a prolonged slump, I’ll revisit it.

And wow, what a turnaround.
