NFL Draft v 2

Skeet Skeet

My name is Humpty, pronounced with a Umpty.
Yo ladies, oh how I like to hump thee.
And all the rappers in the top ten--please allow me to bump thee.
I'm steppin' tall, y'all,
and just like Humpty Dumpty
you're gonna fall when the stereos pump me.
I like to rhyme,
I like my beats funky,
I'm spunky. I like my oatmeal lumpy.
I'm sick wit dis, straight gangsta mack
but sometimes I get ridiculous
I'll eat up all your crackers and your licorice
hey yo fat girl, c'mere--are ya ticklish?
Yeah, I called ya fat.
Look at me, I'm skinny
It never stopped me from gettin' busy
I'm a freak
I like the girls with the boom
I once got busy in a Burger King bathroom
I'm crazy.

Belichick showing Mangini how it's done

I use to love to hit, I use to take it serious. I only got one at bat a year, maybe...but, I took it serious. I hit 1.000 one year, if i had another at bat, I'd hit 2.000...

by Longhorn on Apr 25, 2009 5:57 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

Here's the thing

Supposedly, no one was all that hot on moving into the top 10. It isn’t considered to be a great draft at the top, and teams are reluctant to spend the money those picks cost.

Remember how Belichick supposedly didn’t want the #3 pick in the draft in the Cassel trade, because of the money and salary cap impact?

So Mangini comes in, wants extra picks, wants to bring in some new guys to build the team, and would rather have numbers than the #5. There’s not a lot of interest in paying a mint to move up, though.

So what do the Browns do? Take a guy at #5 that they don’t think is worth they money they have to pay? Reach at #5 for a guy who will sign for, say, #15 money? Or take less than what the draft chart says the pick is worth in order to try to build a stock of picks?

by Adam J. Morris on Apr 25, 2009 6:15 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

Well said.

Better than I could put it to longhorn.

by tyd3311 on Apr 25, 2009 6:16 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

+1

Exactly. This is a weak draft. There’s not that many guys on the draft board that teams really want to take. And with this economy the way it is, teams are not going to want to pay a lot of money for sub-par players.

Some of these teams are going to take almost anything just to talk down

from scouts inc

Levitre

Offensive Guard specific Traits
Strength/Toughness 2 Lacks explosive power. Does not jar defenders with initial punch. He is tough, though. Plays the game with mean streak and works to sustain. Possesses adequate lower-body strength.
Agility 3 Shows quick first step and can reach the second-level as a run blocker. Shuffles quickly to one side or the other, and also shows good balance. He is not a great athlete, though. Will struggle to mirror and slide versus more athletic defenders’ double moves. Clearly better suited to play inside, where he can be protected in the NFL.
Awareness 4 Displays a great understanding of angles as a blocker. Is technically sound. Does a fine job with hand placement and keeps head on a swivel. Is versatile and can play multiple positions. Intelligent football player.
Pass Protection 3 Limited range. Will have trouble on the perimeter in pass pro at the next level. However, he has enough quickness and balance to hold up well in pass pro as a guard. Shows great awareness picking up blitzes and stunts. Displays very good technique, especially hand placement. Works hard to sustain once in position. Adequate strength when anchoring versus bull rush.
Run Blocking 2 Takes excellent angles and is almost always in good position. Is a street-fighter type. Feisty at the point of attack and works hard to finish. Adequate lower-body strength on drive blocks but lacks explosive punch. Not overwhelming at the point of attack but

Unger:

Strength/Toughness 3 Possesses a strong lower body and the upper body strength to lock on and control defenders. Fights to the whistle and is a finisher.
Agility 2 Shows some stiffness laterally but displays surprising quickness when moving forward. Excellent first-step quickness for his size and takes solid angles. Plays under control, so if he gets to the second level on time he generally is effective hitting moving targets.
Awareness 2 An intelligent player. Great versatility; has significant experience at both tackle and center positions. Keeps his head on a swivel in pass protection and recognizes line stunts quickly.
Pass Protection 2 Sinks hips and can recover when bull rushers get a strong initial push. Gets set quickly but struggles to mirror-and-slide versus athletic rushers. Does a nice job of mirroring rushers and using his hands to keep them at bay.
Run Blocking 2 Not a road grader but generally gets into good position. Locks on with hands and stands ground. Also effective cut blocker that can knock defenders off their feet.

I use to love to hit, I use to take it serious. I only got one at bat a year, maybe...but, I took it serious. I hit 1.000 one year, if i had another at bat, I'd hit 2.000...

From Insider Corner
Dallas receives a 3rd and 4th rounder for this pick so expect a field day for Jerry on the second day tomorrow. Rumor is the Cowboys were set to take Massaquoi with that pick until the Browns took the Georgia WR a pick ahead of them, which is why Dallas was scrambling to make the trade…

im glad they didn't take him.

Also, just saw the ESPN feed of when Dallas traded the pick…

Wow, that Douche Berman got all kinds of excited and happy when he thought that Dallas passed…what a ’effn blowhard.

I've had it...

fuck Al Davis. He has completely fucked over my team to the point that I can’t even watch the NFL now.

I’m sure Wyo was doing the same thing I did when the Jets traded up and took Sanchez and Crabtree fell right into Oakland’s hands with the 7th pick. I’m sitting in my chair saying “Woohoo we got Crabtree” and when the pick was announced I nearly wet myself. I fucking hate Al Davis. How hard is it to pick the best player in the draft with the 7th pick when he falls in your lap? Seriously. Nope, not Al. He has to pick some guy who can run a 4.2/40, but couldn’t catch Crabtree’s jock. Why can’t Al Davis just die already.

Scout: He was a first-round pick right? Got a huge bonus?
KG: Oh yeah.
Scout: Well, he spent a lot of it on milkshakes.
