UZR Tidbits Through 4/26
Over at Fan Graphs, they claim that the Rangers are the fifth best defensive team by UZR (though there is quite a difference between them and the MLB best Rays). Some more information on Cruz (good) and Andrus (not so good) as well.

I wonder how we are doing this...
however, I think the sample size is too small to judge it
Chris (NJ): I am personally offended at how you ranked a prospect from my favorite team, even though I do not know said prospect, nor have I ever seen him play. In my opinion you only have your job because, like your employers, you have an unholy bias towards my favorite team’s rival. Also, you’re short.
Keith Law: You’re right. I am short.

I don't think it's likely
the team stays that high in the rankings, but very likely they’ll remain better than last year’s club defensively.

Who do you see regressing?
By 2028, Mark Teixeira will be in the HOF.

I don't think Cruz
is really the best RFer in baseball, and I could see Hamilton falling back a tad. Kinsler also seems like a good bet to move toward average. I don’t expect a big drop off from the team overall, or any player, just a settling back to closer to avg.

I dont know about that...
I think people underrate Cruz just b/c he sometimes looks ‘awkward’ at times, but i’ve seen the guy make catches way up in the alley over in the Right Center right behind you see the CF play at times, also his range going back looks great and he’s made several good plays going hard into foul ground

Sure, he's quality
but I don’t think he’s the best.

Anyone know where they are
on defensive efficiency?

I believe that
more than I believe 5th best.
Then again, I have a bias towards the games I’ve seen, and the defense was pretty bad in those. Still its a small sample either way.

Michael Young is no longer dead last
which makes sense given what we have perceived as better defense of late
Comparisons to a week ago:
-Kinsler dropped to 4th
-Nellie’s still 1st with an unbelievable range number and an arm number that is still below average
-Jones apparently had a good day in LF

I really hope they keep Cruz in RF and switch Hamilton to LF when Borbon is ready.
Cruz is a really, really good RF.
Though I guess you really couldn’t go wrong either way.

That would make sense to me
they could even swap Hamilton to LF and let Byrd play CF to build trade value while they wait for Borbon. I think Hamilton would be better in LF than Cruz due to a little more range.

cruz right now has the best range of any OF
and it’s not even close. of course, he’s only playing RF (which is probably smaller in most parks) but still

the tiny samples of games in one year.
