Josh Rupe clears waivers, becoming a starter
Josh Rupe has reportedly cleared waivers, and the Rangers going to send him to extended spring training so he can stretch out his arm before heading into the rotation at AAA Oklahoma.
I can only assume, based on the last reliever-turned-starter, that if Rupe succeeds in the rotation, he will be promptly stuck back in the bullpen.
This will be an interesting few months for Rupe...he'll be a minor league free agent after the season if the Rangers don't add him to the 40 man before the end of October, and I'm not sure what he'd have to show in Oklahoma for the team to decide to do that.

Viva Variety...
I don’t dig that much, but Reno 911 is great.
"I know you're a bit dense but no, it doesn't. Obviously lying isn't a problem for me."
I thought Rupe's upfront treatment today was
another attempt by Adam to do the John Elway head-bob and do what he can to draw the masses or other individuals offsides.
Kinda like he did when he was promoting the Arkansas Blowhard’s trip around the world back in January.

Who is the Arkansas Blowhard?
And when did I promote anything that individual did?

I've been wondering who this Arkansas Blowhard is as well
since I just moved back to DFW after living in Arkansas for 20yrs… hope it isn’t me…

So you were serious about this?
My reaction to it was much the same as BGardner’s.

Oh

I had no idea you were that interested in what he had to say
and thought it was an attempt to draw me offsides.
If you’re that interested in what he has to say and feel like it was worthy of being promoted in here for the masses, so be it.
I’d rather watch Roseanne Barr leg out a triple in nothing but a thong than read what the Arkansas Blowhard has to say.
"Dying ain't hard. It's living that's hard."
awesome

truly awesome.

Gdawg, I didn't view it as a ploy
to get me mad.
I thought he may have been tweaking me in a less than subtle way and just trying to be funny because it was January and nothing else was going on in the Ranger off-season.
He was apparently serious about it and thought it provided some people in here with something else to read, so no big deal.
"Dying ain't hard. It's living that's hard."
So to summarize
You thought Adam posted a link to a blog just to get under your skin a bit because he knows how much you hate a guy on another forum.
Yeah, nothing egotistical about that.
In other news, they were doing construction this morning right on the street right outside where I live. Must be the city being bored and trying tweak me in a less than subtle way.

I thought it was Jerry Jones, too.
Then I clicked on the link below and found out it is apparently someone from NMLR that Josey apparently doesn’t like. I think Josey is something like Steve Buscemi’s character is Billy Madison.
"I know you're a bit dense but no, it doesn't. Obviously lying isn't a problem for me."
To be fair
Hodson is kind of a blowhard. I’m sure he had a wonderful time on his adventure. I just don’t care to know about it.
I did read one of the first offerings (but none since)
and there was a picture of himself. He looked like Linus did when he wrapped his blanket around himself and was impersonating a shepherd.
He was at some wedding in Nicaragua, Guadalajara or somesuch and standing next to a bride as though he’d accomplished something with a really odd look on his face.
I also had no idea he’s as tall as Muggsy Bogues which explains a lot.
"Dying ain't hard. It's living that's hard."
To be fair again
You can be just as much of a blowhard at times. You just don’t take up quite as much bandwidth.
Josey calls someone a blowhard...
pot yells, “stupid black kettle!”
"I know you're a bit dense but no, it doesn't. Obviously lying isn't a problem for me."
My bad
I had no idea Adam felt that website would interest anybody.
Continue the plan of the day.
I have no reason to believe Rupe will ever be a competent starter at any level.
"Dying ain't hard. It's living that's hard."
Wait
Your “plan of the day” is to bash Josh Rupe?
Ok for real this time: I no longer believe Josey Wales is a real person. Who is doing this? AJM? Who?
Rupe's niche is as a middle reliever
but he was used waaaaaay too much last year and wasn’t effective after July 1.
"Dying ain't hard. It's living that's hard."
Josey has been around a long time
that and the sheer volume of his posts would make this one of the most involved and successful bits in the history of message boards.
I think he is the real deal, it would just take too much time and effort for someone to pull this off for this amount of time.
If you take the worst pitching staff in baseball, then add Kris Benson and Jason Jennings, what do you have???
surprise!!! You have the worst pitching staff in baseball, that's what.
The crowning piece
Is that he thinks anyone on any online resource would post something to “draw him offsides”. The absolute crown jewel of narcissism.

This Rupe love is
killing me. Front page, a fan post and a fan shot.
Elvis Andrus - 2009 AL Rookie of the Year
I wouldn't assume anything
At the rate that pitchers go on the DL, he could get another shot at the big leagues this year if it looks like he can contribute either as a starter or out of the bullpen.
here's hoping that being rejected by every team in ML baseball
has the same effect on Rupe that it did on Cruz.
I doubt it, but if the dude could just throw strikes it would help his cause considerably.
If you take the worst pitching staff in baseball, then add Kris Benson and Jason Jennings, what do you have???
surprise!!! You have the worst pitching staff in baseball, that's what.
agreed
these are two players with lots of natural ability. i would love to see it have a similar effect. Rupe has also expressed his desire to return to the rotation in the past, so maybe the move will motivate him. Of course the downside is that our 40 will already feature some difficult decisions this winter. He could add to them.
What is this, Horseville? Because I'm surrounded by naysayers.
can't this post just become a place to put all of Rupe's
old pictures of facial hair styles?

lol
u know ESPN did this on purpose, somehow…
I use to love to hit, I use to take it serious. I only got one at bat a year, maybe...but, I took it serious. I hit 1.000 one year, if i had another at bat, I'd hit 2.000...
the success rate of failed relievers converted to successful starters
has to be pretty small.

When he's ready to come back up
will they break him in by working him out of the bullpen?

Totally OT
But Will Carroll just tweeted: “any Dallas area Ranger fan tweeps sitting on an extra ticket for the upcoming series? My friend @jennifersterger is in town.”
I responded with: “don’t have one, but I can certainly get one. She is hot, after all!”
Because if there is one truth: hot girls deserve free stuff. Am I wrong?
Carroll will love that...

you can clearly buy a ticket for the game (it’s not sold out). He just wants us to give him an extra one?

The said thing is that he

Is it Julio Borbon time???
If Hammy has to hit the DL do you bring up Borbon or just Boggs? Borbon starts in center at least 50% of the time with Byrd taking the other starts… Nellie in right… Murphy/Jones in left?
