fuck me
"The House That Ruth Built, 85 years old, goes out as The House That Hamilton Knocked Down"
So is MY still clutch?
That was kind of big. Even after the robbed home run, Hank should have been up with one out in a one-run game.
and the popout earlier in the game with Kinz on 3rd.
Go Rangers...don't suck...
by Kinslerhomer on Apr 30, 2009 4:24 PM CDT up reply actions
umm YES
I think winning three games with HR’s is a little more significant than having a bad call against you at third base down 3 in the ninth of a single game, this bit about him not being clutch is getting sooo old
by blueballlefty on Apr 30, 2009 4:28 PM CDT up reply actions
..he hit a double in the bottom of the ninth
if someone is saying hes clutch I don’t think that at bat is an argument against it just because he thought he could get to third…
the preceding post was a great success.
I think poor thinking in that situation is as big an argument against someone being clutch as any.
If I actually believed there was such a thing as clutch or unclutch, I would be looking at mental errors like that.
That's supposed to be the whole thing with clutch
By 2028, Mark Teixeira will be in the HOF.
-The Outlaw
Was it a bad call?
It looked like it was a tie at best for Young. Young had no reason to try for third at that time.
By 2028, Mark Teixeira will be in the HOF.
-The Outlaw
Yeah it looked like he was out on the replay
The only way he was safe would be if his initial swipe missed the side of his leg..and even then it looked like just a tie
pretty clutch hitting...
pretty poor baserunning (or deciding)

Like, seriously ,explain to me why he was going to third.
How has he been in baseball that long without knowing the situation?
no fucking clue
Byrd got robbed as well before then, AJ’s homer should have tied the game

it wouldnt have mattered

"The House That Ruth Built, 85 years old, goes out as The House That Hamilton Knocked Down"
Like a sac fly, or a non-bases loaded walk by Eddied
or a non-robbed home run, or a non-robbed single in the 9th, or… fuck!
We may have still lost 4-3.
But we don’t know what Cruz might have done. MY never gave him a chance because he’s one of those many baseball idiots who treat outs like they don’t actually matter.
it was one out
If he got to third it would have set up the sac fly. But it was a 3 run game in the 8th so I’m not sure a sac fly opportunity was worth the risk.

….I didn’t say it was. I was just being a smart ass about my fanpost. The Rangers haven’t been able to win a game yet this season without scoring 5 runs. Not all of that is the pitching/defense’s fault. Some of that seems to be the offense’s boom/bust characteristic.

Ryan Sweeney: Oh, nothing much, I was just trying to focus on the ball – hoping that I would have enough room.

there were a lot of positives to be taken from this
1. Padilla pitched pretty well, and his final line probably should have looked better than it did. 2. Andruw Jones is an asset. 3. Jason Jennings is our new Jamey Wright (when Wright was at this best as an innin-eating reliever. 4. Guardardo is one step closer to being cut.

heard he didn’t have great stuff. But he took his time (go figure) and finessed his way through 6 innings. Nice to see that he can still work out of jams.
(Wife) "So what do you want to watch on the T.V.? UFC or porn?"
(Husband) "Hmm... well, porn, I guess."
yeah
a better offense would have probably knocked him out much earlier. his lack of velocity concerns me. we can really only hope for a 6 IP/3 ER quality start as a best case scenario when he has this sort of stuff.

I think the lineup is so confused by the strike zones that are being

"Hustle doesn't cost a dime and it looks good." - Pete Rose as Channeled by Marcus Lemon
we need to trade Byrd
ASAP. I love him as a player, but he is so streaky and his value as an all around player can’t get any higher. lots of teams could use a guy who can play all 3 OF positions.

he had 6 so's as of this morning and 1 bb
logic would suggest that with a good BA right now, the guy is making contact with just about anything thats close to the plate, making solid contact and making defenses earn their outs.

Actually has a .833 OPS with 2 HR and 10 RBI with RISP. That’s actually good for 5th on the team right now – and the dropoff from 5th to 6th is huge (Murphy is 6th with a .700).

I'm not so worried about Salty
or even Hamilton because they’re adjusting to new stances and stuff. And Salty had a pretty good year last year as far as patience goes, and isn’t going down on first pitching as much as Blalock and Byrd.
The hacking Bs, on the other hand, have been awful as far as P/PA

It just occurred to me that, without a douchey ump or Ryan Sweeney. . .
. . . Kinz would have NINE home runs in April.
CD nugget:
Chris Davis had 34 strikeouts in April, second only to Brad Wilkerson (37 in 2006) for the month of April.
ZOMG!!!
(Thanks, Evan.)

Joe Maddon just said he learned progressive, sabermetric stuff from Bill Bavasi.
That has to be a lie.
I think he meant to say Bill James
or he’s an idiot.

He lies
and he’s a horrible manager.

It's time to call up David Price.
And it’s time for the Indians to purchase Matt LaPorta’s contract.

I blame Chad Hennings
sorry, love the guy…but I’ve gotta place the blame on him

I'm not convinced Padilla...
and his lack of velocity is just a dead arm now. He seemed to get some back last outing but was right back at 88-90 mph today. His velocity really worries me. I don’t think this team can be close to .500 with Padilla pitching the way he is right now. He’s lucky he was facing the A’s lineup today or he would have given up 5 or 6 runs through 6.

NoNameOnCard has said that he thinks its mechanical
And before Padilla’s last start, Maddux apparently worked with him to try and fix this.
By 2028, Mark Teixeira will be in the HOF.

Dammit
I thought this was going to be a night game.
So what’s the deal with Salty? “Irritation in his right eye?”

Just not in a groove right now.
Maybe the Red Sox will trade him at the deadline and roll with Buccholz.
He hasn't been in the groove
for more than a year.

But I’m betting it’s not the best replay of it.

Painful end to April...
but the Rangers are still in decent shape. Hope they can fuse the pitching and hitting more consistently, because this team has an awful tendency to let the other half slide, even with this lineup.
