I see no reason this shouldn’t be our everyday lineup.

De Rosa
is it that the Rangers blew it with De Rosa or is it that Cleveland just needs a spare at 3rd?
also, is there a national opening day game on TV today?
I soloed in the Mile High Club!
Yes
On ESPN2. Philly/Atlanta.

DeRosa
I’m not sure I understand your question.

The Indians needed a solid @ 3rd
And the Cubs outpriced us.
"I saw your act, just didn't make it for me. Just a lot of fluff."
it wasn't only that the cubs outpriced us
but they could offer him a full-time position
Bring on April 6th!
I'll go ahead and delete my fanshot holmes.
I like this lineup.
Although I thought Jones was kept to face tough lefties as a DH….isn’t Lee a tough lefty?
My cool sig.
you usually start your best players on opening day
that would be my assessment at least

Yes..except on Opening Day
managers usually put out their normal everyday lineup and throw out match ups
good job RW
Anyone know what the last roster move will be/was?
DFA Metcalf or Mendoza? Trade? 60-day DL Nippert or Eyre?
Elvis Andrus - 2009 AL Rookie of the Year
yay.
although blalock really shouldnt be batting fifth vs lefties, we knew thats where he would be if he was in.
the preceding post was a great success.
Where should he be then?
Bryan Smith (12:17:17 PM PT): Justin Smoak and Josh Hamilton. The AL West might just have found their Bash Brothers, v. 2.0.
Well, I guess I'm not sure if I believe their public story on why Andruw is around,
given this lineup. But, this is the lineup I wanted to see on opening day, and against any LHP for that matter.
JD: Adamant about 78 wins in 2009. Go Rangers!
Dammit! I wanted to see Jones in there.

Yes we can! November 04, 2008
The lineup is fine
Just wondering…
Anybody think byrd and cruz should be flipped? And, I wonder if Byrd isn’t wondering why he isn’t higher? Seems really odd that the AAAA player is handed the cleanup role. I’m not really complaining and on the list of Wash issues, this is very low.
But, if you were making your ideal lineup, would you put cruz at cleanup right away?
Ceterum censeo Cat esse delendam - Cahill the Elder
Yes id put cruz there
Maybe if byrd were a heavy lefty split guy, but hes even across the board. Cruz at least has a realistic chance of being cleanup quality v lefties, byrd really doesn’t.
the preceding post was a great success.
chance, sure
but you don’t want to make that change a couple of months into the season? seems like an awful lot of pressure for a guy who had been (or still is) a AAAA player
Ceterum censeo Cat esse delendam - Cahill the Elder
Pressure is very low on my list of concerns regarding players.
Its the reason Chris Davis is batting 7th, which I disagree with too. They feel pressure to produce rather they are hitting 9th or 3rd.. if they are going to hit you may as well get the most out of it.
the preceding post was a great success.
Yep
For all that it matters, the lineup 1 through 8 should be good at run production. And in a way, having Davis at seven just extends opposing pitchers even further than if he were in the middle lineup stack. I think it’s pretty telling and informative about the Rangers’ potential offense that there is no relief from run risk that far down. In a sense, it makes every inning a scoring threat.

Not that lineups matter a whole lot, but I feel like when I put CHONE projections in to a lineup tool. . .
. . . it usually put Davis 7th.
well if I thought davis was going to put up a .808 ops with 25HR I probably would too
the preceding post was a great success.
good job wash, good job!
Stability is key, and JD is a Beast.

Well...
at least we know Wash got one lineup right.
Now if only he would fill out the lineup card everyday like it was opening day.

I think Davis batting 7th is the right move
As of right now, I think we should see how he starts the season. If he starts off strong after a month, then start moving him up in the order.

I thought Wash was going to start
Jones every game.

I thought so too

Is Hamilton really going to play CF this year over Byrd and Cruz?
Beyond the Boxscore // Calling BJ Upton lazy is lazy.
Yes
I doubt Cruz would be an upgrade in center over Hamilton, fwiw.

Is Byrd a full-time guy or a platoon guy?
Or yet to be determined?
