I refreshed the screen

I wouldn’t be so pissed at MLB for this, except that I paid for MLB.tv and that feed is not working for me for the Rangers game, although I can see the Reds game.

by clark on Apr 6, 2009 3:06 PM CDT reply actions   0 recs

eh

If Millwood can’t go 7 innings when he’s only giving up 1 run, then we have big problems. Guys at the top of the rotation shouldn’t have any problem going 110 pitches

by JBImaknee on Apr 6, 2009 3:07 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

I guess

But in a game when we’re up by 7, why not let Rupe or Madrigal throw an inning and spare the extra miles on Millwood’s arm. I would completely agree with you if it was a close game, though.

What is this, Horseville? Because I'm surrounded by naysayers.

by clark on Apr 6, 2009 3:08 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

Because

they COULD potentially blow it. I do not trust but one arm in our bullpen, FF, and not sure how much. The less they pitch, the better.

And no better day to start that than game 1. Last year, the bullpen pitched far, far too much. I’m more worried about keeping them out of games than getting them work. They’ll get their share…

Here is how I deal with it

If Millwood hits 180 innings, it means he has been effective. Which means he has trade value and/or the Rangers are competitive this year. Either way, I’m happy.

I don’t particularly want Milly’s contract on the books next season, but a good Millwood is better than bad Millwood for many reasons, so I want him out there and effective
