You and Evan did a great job today. Keep up the good work.

Great stuff

I enjoyed your running analysis on Millwood. I’m not interested in the pitch by pitch data, but I enjoyed your summary notes and such.

Really liked the post game stuff, especially Miller’s piece on Elvis.

I think you guys are going to do really well. You’re giving us the best of both worlds by having article length post game columns up within hours of the game ending. People have no reason to wait until the next morning to read their game reports.

Keep it up.

+Great Stuff.

I also loved the Andrus piece.

Pitch data was great, and the summaries.

I was at the game, but I spent the last 30 minutes reading every word over there. I really enjoyed it.

Jeff was awesome

I thought that was one of the best baseball features I’ve read in a long time.

who is jeff?

I haven’t been paying attention as much as I should to that blog but I was pretty impressed with that first(?) effort. Exactly the type of thing I want to read.

Of course, you guys were good – as expected.

Inside Corner is a dream come true...

for those of us who obsess about the Rangers, you guys don’t miss a beat!

Thanks Mike!

Terrific

and I just left a note over there saying the same thing. I really hope D is getting the number of hits needed to keep you guys in business. Evan and MJH with no limits on number of words or posts has meant great and thorough coverage. You are blowing away the FWST and the DMN is irrelevant to baseball (sorry, Richard).

OT: Joe Posnanski has a great piece on Greinke today, every bit as good as Jeff’s nice write up on Elvis.

1 – my newsreader didn’t read your feed all day – so I’m just now reading your game coverage – so, fix your feed

2 – Just about every post there has an option to “continue reading” – your site is so slow that I can’t surf both the top tier and then the 2nd tier links, life’s just too short – so I just select the one or two features that interest me and open those. Gotta be costing you hits.

3 – I always figured Andrus was a clutch batter, just didn’t know the numbers. wow

4 – otherwise, enjoy it, good stuff – btw, the magic calendar would be a fine addition to your blogroll there

+1 for the slowness

I actually setup InsideCorner as my homepage to help with the hits but it’s so…dang…slow that I had to change it.

by jthig32 on Apr 6, 2009 10:03 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

Yeah, that's the only thing they need to fix over there

It’s worth every bit of the load time after the games, but it usually dissuades me from checking over there while I’m running the GDT, audio and/or video feed and keeping my photobucket account on standby.

Although I just figured out

That for the page will load much faster in firefox if you adblock those “schmap” schedule widgets over on the middle of the right sidebar.

Actually pretty much fixes the problem.

I agree on the "continue reading"

point. Some days there are so many posts, and all of them with a “continue reading”. At home, no problem, but at work, slower computer, yikes.

I hate to even mention it, though, because I feel one of the best things about the site is the ability Evan now has to just post thoughts/quotes/news items as they occur. Maybe something as simple as a font or format change would mean more text before it’s necessary to “continue reading”. The font size on this page, for example is much smaller but still very readable than at the D blog.

But the slow loading thing has to be fixed. My computer is about 9 months old and every other internet page (except maybe game day threads here) loads pretty quickly.

G G G E-flat_______ F F F D__________....

by t ball on Apr 7, 2009 12:18 AM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

I'm not sure but I've always

suspected the slowness was related to sidebar elements (re)loading at each refresh. I’m not sure how relevant those are for anyone here but I don’t look at them at all.

As I just posted over on the site

You guys outdid yourselves today. Ranger fans needed a place to get quality reporting and opinion this season and (seeing as how the DMN and the FWST have stopped caring about baseball) the Inside Corner’s the new place to get it. MJH, Evan and all: thanks for injecting some hope and some enthusiasm back into the Rangers media. Here’s to a great season.

Inside Corner load times

I haven’t had any issue with IC loading up any slower than anywhere else I visit. In fact, it’s loads faster than SB Nations site do. At least for me it does.

x

The slowness of their site is intermittent for me. Right now it’s loading just fine, but during peak hours (and especially yesterday during the game) it loads quite slow.

So they must have a limited amount of bandwidth.

but if you really want to go to the next level, don’t be afraid to be critical OR….actually say something that might make Tom Hicks wince.

bg - my thoughts on the Inside Corner

Coverage on the Rangers has definitely been ramped up and the fans are getting better coverage than we have in the recent past. Evan, you boys are doing a lot of very good work that was much needed.

When Tom Hicks was asked about his finances and how it relates to the Rangers, he defended himself by saying he reinvested money into the ballpark and that the team ate Cat’s contract because they thought Andruw Jones made the team better. So that suddenly makes it okay for the number 5 media market team to have one of the lowest payrolls in MLB? That shit wouldn’t fly in NYC, Chi, Boston, Philly or LA.

Those statements by Hicks sat out there like a fart in church and were begging for follow up questions or opinions that may have portrayed Hicks in a negative light.

I understand how beat reporters need to be nice so players on the team will speak to them but Evan & Hindman aren’t conventional beat reporters and they should also be free to give praise (when warranted) or throw harsh criticism at management, specifically JD & Hicks when necessary.

Tom Hicks’ performance as owner of this team has been abysmal and embarrassing yet he still gets a free pass (except from the Star Telegram).

I try to read everything I can

and then use my own baseball brain and acumen to determine if said info is good or bad.

When people say Galloway is nothing but negative when it comes to the Rangers, that’s simply not true. He will write glowing columns about the team from time to time when warranted. He did an excellent column on Josh Hamilton last year.

He will kick the team in the nuts when warranted as well (see JD) but that doesn’t make him a bad writer.

I like Inside Corner for the same reason I like BBTIA and even NMLR

You take the access you have with players and FO, and your skill with stats throughout the system, and do in-depth think pieces with either or both.

The short posts will probably keep a few eyeballs around, but the above is more your strength (eg, here’s how player X is doing, or his whole team, or how he compares with the guy above/below him, or trade rumors involving him, and why those rumors are exciting or bad). There’ll be so much to dig into once the minors start up.

It’s been fantastic so far. You all got a lot of momentum going in ST.

Addendum:

NMLR remains the score to beat in Rangers coverage.

Nice of you to say, but....

Inside Corner does things I can’t do, and does those things brilliantly. (There’s a reason that Adam links up Inside Corner every day, and never links NMLR. Maybe there are more reasons than just one, but there’s at least one.)

Inside Corner is my first and last stop for Rangers news and analysis now.
