Wireless (wifi) at RBIA? Couldn't get access.
So I asked a question earlier (in-thread) about wifi at the Ballpark.
Rodney's answer:
Yes, there is.Verified yesterday by RachelB & Craig.
I found what was obviously a Texas Rangers wireless network (with good strength), but it required username and password.
Anyone else have luck, or is there some way to get access to the Rangers' network?
Does anyone (Rachel or Craig) know who to contact that could provide details of wifi service(s) available.
Thanks in advance,
Sam

IDK...they did see an open network.
I would ask here: cmorgan@texasrangers.com

Yeah I was disappointed when I couldn't get in.
I wanted to use the mlb app to get some extra info on the game and use it for the radio feed occasionally. And maybe make a post or two on LSB while waiting for the game to start.
They’ve got wifi access everywhere, I don’t know why it needs to be private. Heck, I’d pay a small fee to get access…
the preceding post was a great success.

It has shown up on my phone as a network the last two seasons....
…but I have never been able to send or receive data using it. Phone acts like it connects, then nothing. Always just times out.

I had the same problem
I tried using the 3G network as well, but the Ballpark just seems to be a giant dead zone.

Regular Network
My phone is an old iPhone, so it uses the Edge network, which has always been just fine for data, voice, etc. at the RBIA. If your 3G won’t connect, try turning it off and just use the Edge netowrk. Slower, but it’ll work.

let me explain
it is an open network in the sense that you can connect to it, but you cannot log into it
ther’s no lock icon, so it’s open, but once you try to go to a web page you get the log in fields.
i don’t know if these are industry terms, but i think it’s a decent explanation.
we have wireless in our regus building. you can connect to their wireless network, but you need a username and password ($10/day).
our office has a secured network (closed lock icon) and you cannot connect without first entering the 10-digit passowrd that is subsequently saved and not required to be reentered on subsequent sessions.
i was able to connect, but could not log in yesterday.
also – yesterday was overwhelmed with cell phone data users (at least att). i was able to upload a couple of photos to facebook early over att network (blackberry), but nothing else went through. i could not receive e-mails or send/receive texts. this changed when people started leaving. we were inside cuervo and at the end of the game i got slammed with all the pending data.
it’s not a black hole so much as the towers could not support the volume. again, not necessarily industry terms but you get the idea.

may have MAC address filtering?
i doubt it though — probably open to press?
Scout: He was a first-round pick right? Got a huge bonus?
KG: Oh yeah.
Scout: Well, he spent a lot of it on milkshakes.

Sounds like AT&T needs to get on the ball and put in more bandwidth...
for the area. Sounds like they need another tower or something, especially once you add the Cowboys stadium into the equation.
