Salty keep on hitting, bring us some pitching!
We have heard and talked about Salty's "potential". This year feels like the year he will finally put it all together in the big leagues. It could not have come at a better time. If he struggles this year, the Rangers are left with a player with huge potential without results. They could trade him for a decent haul but with many question marks on both sides of the trade as to what he really is. Or they could sit on him and wait while wasting the talent of Teagarden and Ramirez stuck on the bench and the minors.
There is no question as to what to do with Salty later this year or in the off season. Trade Salty for major league ready pitching!
We have a great offense. His bat would be very nice, but I think Teagarden's defense and work with the pitchers would be a much bigger asset to the team. If Salty continues on the path he looks like he will take this year, he will net a HUGE return.
Not to mention Max would be a well above average backup catcher.
So keep swinging Salty, every hit is one step closer to more quality pitching.

I'd trade one of max/davis/smoak
before I trade one of our two true catchers.
the preceding post was a great success.
At what return?
I think the Rangers could get a young decent #3 maybe #2 SP for Salty.
So...why is John Hart still being paid?

I'd think they each have more value at this point

Unless one of them gets hurt or drastically underperforms I think they'll always have more value.

Keep Salty...
Trade Teagarden….
If Saltalamacchia proves to be serviceable defensively, you don’t trade him.

Wow, I didnt know I would stir up so many F bombs
All I am saying is that I would take a solid starting pitcher AND Teagarden, then keep Salty.
So...why is John Hart still being paid?
Yeah yeah
We’ve been hearing it all offseason too.
“Hey now that Salty’s tapped into his enormous potential… LETS TRADE HIM! WHEEEEEEEE!!!!”
Sorry, but that’s a pretty fucking stupid mentality IMO.
Hello Win Column - no two-tone helmets have been included in our redesign.
Possibly, it would be stupid
I could be wrong, but Teagarden or Max will not bring major league ready pitching. I fear an Adrian Gonzalez part 2 (trading beacuase of a log jam resulting in reduce value) happening with him or Max.
So...why is John Hart still being paid?
Reply button is your friend.
Also, if you think Tea is really good enough to facilitate the trade of Salty (even though Salty is outperforming him) I don’t know why you don’t think he has any trade value.

Id be careful in saying out performing
Teagarden hasnt played (other than his 1.5 innings last night) and Salty’s defense has been below average so far.
I was the biggest salty hater last year and i admit, i hope im wrong. And it sure looks like im heading down the path of being wrong, but again, i wouldnt mind being wrong.
Wasnt everyone here all for the Salty/Bucholez trade? Are you guys now against??
Salty's defense has been below average so far
Uh, have we been watching the same player?

Yeah, did you not see the one passed ball in the first game
The two in the second game?? One was possibly a wild pitch but still should have been stopped. And if i remember correctly, two runs scored off two of those. So yeah, below average defenseivly. I just dont get how all of you were on board with trading him 3 weeks ago and not know when its only been two games?
Do you want to trade Hamilton bc hes struggled out of the gate? And Davis??
Wow!! Another error for Salty!!
Again, like i said, below average defense. Above average hitting. With this offense, id much rather have a “gold glove” type catcher and slightly below avg hitting or even average and get some great pitching in return.
Elvis has "shook up" Arlington!!
ding ding ding...pitching? what a novel concept!
I mean we got plenty of great starters right?
Josh Hamilton puts his pants on one leg at a time just like you but once he gets his pants on he hits baseballs 420 feet.
I wonder if the Rangers are more reluctant in dealing either of Davis or Teagarden because of their local ties.
I doubt it...
they were willing to give up Chris Young.
I think they are relectant to give up any of the young players right now because they want to make sure the other options (Smoak and Salty/MaxRam in the case of Davis and TT) are going to be better.
