Friday afternoon video
Another classic scene from a movie before most of you guys were born, this time featuring the late, great Paul Newman...

I can't watch these videos from work
but if it’s the egg-eating scene from CHL, I’m glad I can’t… makes me sick everytime.

great movie

It's hard to believe Newman's no longer with us
except in salad dressing form.

I still have Hud
At the top of my all time favorite movie list (granted it’s a short list). Newman and Patricia Neal performed defining roles in that one.

Really?
Man, that movie is dark and depressing as hell.
I don’t dispute that the acting is superb, but van damn, what a debbie downer of a flick.

Color of Money
Was my first exposure to him. Brilliant performance. I was a teenager at the time, so that has always stuck with me.

A movie that was made 19 years before I was born.
Yet it’s one of those Saturday afternoon-ruining movies. You’re flipping through the channels, planning on watching 20 minutes of TV before you get to work on your big list of things to do.
You flip past AMC, and there’s Cool Hand Luke (or, in another personal example, The Running Man, because damn it, I love that movie). And it’s then that you realize that you’re not going to get any of those things on your list done, because you are inherently obligated to watch the entire movie.

I've always liked it
But I didn’t really “get it” until the second or third time I saw it either. I haven’t seen it in way too long. Might have to rent it now.

Embarassing
But I only saw this movie from beginning to end a few months before he died.
Great movies of his that some might have not seen are The Verdict and Nobody’s Fool.

Nobody's Fool...
was playing at the AMC Sundance when I worked there as a teenager. I never saw it though. I’ve only seen Color of Money.

Have you seen "Before the Devil Knows You're Dead?"
Over looked gem, in my opinion.
For some reason, it really flew under the radar, but I loved it. P.S. Hoffman going against type with fantastic abandon.

Thanks for the reminder- I’m terrible about recent movies.
Also, I was remiss in omitting ‘The Hill’ among Lumet gems.

Movie Greatness.
Fascinating to count the future well-known actors that were in supporting roles.

Great movie
I’m partial to the car wash scene.
It also passes the Roger Ebert- ‘Stanton-Walsh’ rule. Any movie with either Harry Dean Stanton or M. Emmett Walsh is gonna be good.

Possibly my favorite
Coen Bros. flick. And for sure my favorite Walsh role. Noir at it’s best, right up there w/ Double Indemnity.

I gotta go Miller's Crossing
But that’s not noir.
And agreed on Double Indemnity. Anything Cain wrote made for good film noir material.
