Millwood

He doesn’t sound like the type of guy to do an internet chat, or even know what one is. It was pretty fun to read.

Good chat

Says Harrison might have the best stuff on the team?

He made an important point about injuries:

I think the actual part of being hurt isn’t the worst part. It’s the time you miss and how screwed up the routine gets. When you get back, then you have to re-find your mechanics. It just takes some time to get back to where you were before you were hurt.

This is super relevant to how inconsistent guys like McCarthy, Diamond have been, and the trouble Millwood himself had last year. If you’ve been injured it’s going to take time to get everything in sync again and they’ll have up and down outings. To me, this is why evaluating McCarthy is nearly impossible until he’s been on the mound about 20 starts in a row.

If Harrison only had an out pitch...

The injuries thing does make a lot of sense. I never pitched much but as a hitter it would really screw with you even at the HS level. Can’t imagine what time off would do to a guy in the bigs, especially a young guy.
