Over-the-air Austin TV?

Time warner is awful.. schedule shows the game on FSN HD, but its not playing.. a quick flip to SD, and it has the Astros starting at 7:30.  I'm about to switch to Dish or DirecTV, but I was wondering if anyone found if the games were broadcast over-the-air in Austin, as they are in Dallas?

Time Warner

I had to switch from TWC to U-Verse because they weren’t carrying many games in Austin. My dad is still a TWC customer, and said that they’ve started putting games back on Ch. 77 like last year. Can’t confirm that, but check it out.

UVerse and Rangers

I have Dish now and get almost every Rangers game in Austin. UVerse has been hitting my neighborhood pretty hard, and I’m thinking about switching. anyone know how the Rangers coverage is on UVerse in Austin?

Uverse

I just signed up with Uverse. I’ve been pleased with the Rangers coverage. I’ve had it for a couple of weeks, and I think only one game in that span hasn’t been covered (KDFI feed). I bought the sports package for $10 extra per month, and it gives you a Fox Sports feed for Dallas, San Antonio, and Houson, so the Rangers don’t get bumped for the ‘Stros like on TWC…until recently at least. Typically even the games that aren’t on FSSW are put on an alternate channel, with that one exception. Tons more HD games than TWC too.

Try Channel 1532

They have been showing several games lately although it does not show up on the guide. May stop now that Ch. 77 is airing more games lately, but if neither FSN or 77 show it, try there.

Just get directv

dont get dish, get directv… its better service, better quality, more for your money in most cirumstances, free install… I can go on and on, but I have had it for 4 years and have been phenominally happy with it, incredible.

This is our year.

just got back home

from college and i have TWC. Glad i checked this thread out bc im pissed that there are no rangers games on and had not heard of uverse before. I’m switching now. Todays afternoon game isn’t even televised, instead astros insider is on FSW. Unbelievable.

Live in Austin and have uverse

The sweet part about it is that they have 3 seperate FSW channels, the Dallas, San Antonio, and Houston specific broadcasts so you never get trumped by the Astros, Rockets, or Spurs.

Question

Does anyone have U-verse in houston? Are all of the FSW channels available there as well? Do you get all the Rangers games in Houston if you have U-verse with the sports package? I’ll be there next year and want to get whatever service will have the most games. Ideally i’d prefer U-verse over satillite if the rangers games are with both. If anyone knows the answer to this I would greatly appreciate it

77

I am in Austin and can’t get uverse where I live. But I can confirm they (TWC) are now showing games back on 77 again just like last year.

just switch to Directv

I live in Austin and swtiched to Directv after last year’s debacle with the Rangers and TWC. As you are seeing, Astros always took precedence over the Rangers (meaning games were bumped to 77, if we were lucky). And god forbid there is a Dallas soccer match on at the same time, they would bump the Astros to 77 and we’d get no Rangers at all.

I have HD, and games were only sporadically on the HD channel (even for the Astros). And again, if both teams were playing at the same time, the Astros would always get first dibs to the HD channel.

I never got a straight answer from TWC about why the Astros are the preferred team here. They would blame Fox Sports SW for giving them Astros. Very well could be true. But I think it’s also true that TWC only supports one Fox Sports SW channel, not the several variations that you see on Directv.

Anyway, I switched to Directv and love it. I think every Rangers game but one has been on so far, more often than not in HD. If you have the Extra Innings package, Directv has a cool Mix channel where you can see every game and switch to a game in progress. Most Extra Innings games are available in HD, too.

Directv also has the MLB network.

In short, screw Time Warner.
