One of my favorite scenes, from one of the greatest movies ever (and this clip is even SFW):

Strange.
I might have fallen asleep before it was over.

The first time I saw it...
…I was 16, and was like, “I don’t get this.”
The second time I watched it, I was 19, and was like, “This is incredible.” I had rented it to try it again and ended up watching it three times over the course of the weekend.

Twin Peaks
I recently tried watching the re-runs on Chiller network.
It didn’t age well.

?
I’ve never heard of it and it’s not been reviewed on Rotten Toms.

It came out in 1986
In the critics poll of the best movies of the ’80s, it finished third, behind Raging Bull and Wings of Desire.

Meaningful and touching lyrics
Late in his career, there was a Roy Orbison and Friends concert. Just for the music, here’s the YouTube clip

There's a signed 8x11 of David Lynch hanging in the corner store by my house.
The people at the counter had no idea of its provenance.

SFW
That’s probably about the only scene in that movie about which you could make that statement.

Yep
And if the clip were two seconds longer, it wouldn’t have been.

Oh dear..
You truly know the way to my heart. David Lynch and the Texas Rangers…

Hopper and that Oxygen tank
it’s been a looong time since I’ve seen this movie. I love how bat-shit crazy Lynch and his movies are. They either confuse the hell out of you to the point of disinterest or they captivate you. I tend to like his work but yet I’ve never seen Lost Highway
What's the rumpus?

Inland Empire
I feel the same way about him. Some of his stuff is near-perfect, but Inland Empire…I got through about 20 minutes of that one (long enough to freaked out, bored, and confused).

actually
Maybe it was Mulholland Dr. now that I think about it. It was the one with the scene that has the monster thing behind the dumpster out behind the diner.

Seen it?
Should I give it another shot?

I think people consider it the most understandable (apart from Dune)
by ab03 on May 15, 2009 5:41 PM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
Really?
I found Mulholland Drive the least understandable of any of Lynch’s films.
I remember walking out of the theater thinking “what the hell was that?”
Then I read a plot synopsis a few weeks later, and while that clarified what Lynch was getting at, I still didn’t think it much resembled what I’d seen on screen.
Then again, most of Lynch’s films don’t.

My experience as well.
On the other hand, it was worth watching because it introduced me to the hotness of Naomi Watts.

Do you feel the need to witness the worst Texas Rangers commentary of all time?
Well tune into ESPN, they are are actually on the discussion list for Around the Horn.
the preceding post was a great success.

Meh...
more wait ‘til the weather heats up from Blackistone, Jackie M said they were only 2-7 against teams with winning records so she isn’t sold yet, JM said the Angels will win the division, but Texas will stay in the race.
Basically Cowlishaw tried to say this team could be for real while the others just laughed at him.

Lynch
I’ve always been torn on him. I like the way he does his camera work, etc but he makes the most effed up confusing movies that I just cant ever watch more than once.
Though its been well over 10yrs since ive seen blue velvet, might give it a go again.
