TV Ratings

The American League West-leading Rangers are posting the best year-to-year uptick in local TV ratings in all the major leagues.

Through 21 games, the season-to-date Nielsen ratings for Fox Sports Southwest have almost doubled, up from 1.09 in 2008 to 2.16 this season. The 98 percent improvement is way ahead of the San Francisco Giants (28 percent) and the Kansas City Royals (27 percent).

The 2.16 rating translates into approximately 53,784 homes.

As for the first 10 Rangers games on KDFI (Channel 27), they are averaging a 2.4 rating, which is a 32 percent increase over last year's 1.82 average after 10 games. The highest rating on KDFI was a 3.7 on May 6 against Oakland.

That is good news

Better ratings means more interest and more revenue which (one would hope) means more money spent on improving the team.

Now, part of the reason the ratings have such a big increase is because their starting baseline was so bad, but still…this is encouraging…

yup

and it is a great thing imo. I get FSN here but not KDFI or My27 or Fox4….whatever. So I’m glad I won’t miss many games.

How about Dr. Pepper sales?

Very Important.

If folks stop drinking Dr. Pepper, the Rangers are going to have to release Kinsler.

Some chat that Newberg had

with a guy from the Rangers, from the business office. It mainly consisted of him encouraging fans to support sponsors.

supposedly

i know they have the dr pepper signs on the scoreboard but my friend swore to me he couldn’t buy d.p. the other day, all they had were coca cola brands. and i was there friday night and wanted a miller lite, no beerman or kiosk had it. whats weird is they had coors light ( miller and coors merged recently) and they had leinenkugels at the “beers of the world” kiosk, which is a miller coors family brew. im pretty certain Andrews distribution serves the ballpark and they carry miller and coors. i dont really know why they cant serve miller unless bud paid an assload of money to keep the competition out.

I haven't been able to find Miller lite either

I’ve been going with Ziegenbock instead.

You can get DP

no Miller though. Sucks…I just go with Coors or Ziegen.
