Twittering protocol
I know this Twitter thing is often a complete beatdown. I'm caving into a number of requests and will Twitter (@newbergreport) from the Ballpark during today's game but don't want to be a whip -- any thoughts on what I should and shouldn't do with this? Doubt I'll do this very often (and definitely wouldn't do it unless I'm actually at the game), but I look to you guys for some guidance.

Hmmm
What do the Twitter requestors want?
Rangers pitch sequences would be cool, just tracking what’s working for each arm. Batters too.
If you talk to front office personnel about confidential trade news, that’d be cool to pass along.

My thoughts
-the best use is at a game (Keith Law for example). Just for off the cuff, “Did you see that!” stuff.
-When Keith does it , he is assuming that nobody else is watching the game he’s watching, which makes sense because they are mainly minor league games. It would be helpful if you twittered stuff that only people who are watching live can see. Saying “96! Wow!” is in teh moment but most of us will be watching the game. I’m not sure what that leaves. On goings on the field, facial expressions of players?
-Related, any cool convos with players or before game, post game stuff would be cool
-One every inning is probably a good number
-I still don’t check twitter all the time and most people probably don’t use it at all so it would be nice if you didn’t assume that we read something because you tweeted it. An email flash for big news would still be preferable.

Something similar
to the live blogging Evan Grant does would be good. Insights you get from watching every pitch as opposed to being distracted by my 3-yr. old at home…will the entirety be posted on the website for those of us not actually not Twit-ees during the game?

maybe send it out via email after the game?
Scout: He was a first-round pick right? Got a huge bonus?
KG: Oh yeah.
Scout: Well, he spent a lot of it on milkshakes.

You can always read his tweets...
….just go to www.twitter.com/newbergreport and you can see everything he tweeted.
Thanks
I’m so unhip I didn’t realize there was a web page with tweets on it. Looks like Jamey gave up.

The whole format of tweets
seems like it only makes it for folks with severe ADD.

I am proud to say that I have never visited Twitter.com, nor will I ever.

This is why I’m not on Facebook.
Most electronic communications cease to work unless there’s a voice communication alongside them.

I don't even visit other people's MySpaces anymore. I just go to check the bulletin board for any upcoming events
People create all of these photo albums and change their music and it’s like, I don’t care

I have never been to myspace, facebook, twitter
etc., but I’ll read Jamey’s thoughts on the game afterward if he posts them somewhere.

Don’t go crazy linking to other twitter users. You essentially put your post in their feed and that is sometimes considered bad ettiquette. I subscribe to the philosophy that you only include other users you know personally. You are in a position where I think it would be okay to link to Ranger players but not to the other team’s players. I’m by no means an expert on twiiter though.
Signature! I don't need no stinking signature!!
I have never tuned into anyone else's channel
But I had many followers in my last job. Even though my last day was 2 months ago, it’s amazing how people still write me asking when my next listing will be. It’s all about relevance, if you have something to write that people want to read, they check you out.
So you have to figure out your goal – as many followers as possible or as many hardcore Ranger fans or followers of your emails or something else. After that, you figure out what your goal group wants to read.
I think
just your usual insights would be nice. I think it would be interesting for you to send these insights through twitter as you think of them instead of letting them digest a bit like you might before sending them in an email to the list. I follow your twitter so I will be checking it out as I watch the game.
