In Harrison's case...
The tables were the only way to really notice the difference. The color-coded pitch graphs would have been too crowded, obscuring anything useful.
Of course, the whole exercise lost punch when the Rangers announced Harrison’s shoulder soreness. I’d like to think this was the cause of his struggles, and I guess we’ll have a pretty good idea once he gets back on the hill.

Yeah, scatter plots
are useful in some situations, but a lot of the pitch graphs just look like shotgun blasts.

Yeah.
It irritates me when people put up these huge graphs and then draw conclusions by pointing out things they noticed because they made the graph.
I would much rather see a table with the strike zone broken down into nine segments with some leftover data (like some of the guys do at BTB) put in a “wide zone” or whatever table.
Good stuff, I prefer to read the info from a table rather than the graph anyway
Trip, are you going to become a regular contributor to BBTiA?

"Regular" might be an overstatement.
My tentative plan is to post my mechanics articles at TexasLeaguers and my Rangers articles at BBTiA. There will be some gray area when I have Rangers mechanics articles to post.

Speaking of mechanics articles...
how long will we have to wait for the next one? The Robbie Ross/Joseph Ortiz was the last one about Rangers prospects, correct?
I'm currently out of stocked video.
There are a couple of more concept-based articles that I need to take care of, but before I can write any more pitcher-specific mechanics pieces, I’ll need to go out and film some people.
The next video articles will probably be some high school pitchers with whom I work and/or have worked.
