It sure would be nice

if the Rangers could take 3 of 4 from the A’s and finish the month ar 30-20.

Yes

The A’s are circling the drain and this is a weekend the Rangers could use to punch the ticket of one of our division rivals.

A good team wins 3 out of 4 v. the A’s this weekend.

Yep

Knock them out of the race. That will only leave two and we have played both real well.

With the pitching injuries leading into this series

I think I’d be satisfied with just breaking even and not seeing the bullpen destroyed for the upcoming road trip against the Yanks and Red Sox. If this team can survive through the next couple of weeks, they have a pretty easy schedule until the AS Break.

By 2028, Mark Teixeira will be in the HOF.

I enjoy seeing the Rangers in first and the A's in last

Mostly because it just feels like the standings aren’t as much a fluke with the A’s in last place.

I have an irrational hatred of Chris Davis because his Ks are way too ugly and irrational liking of Matt Harrison because he's a lefty - deal with it.

But they were picked by baseball people to finish first!!

the thing to be most optimistic about

is that the defense should stay good throughout the season. (unless of course CD is demoted).

Man, I love winning! You know? It's like better than losing!

by SteveP on May 29, 2009 11:13 AM CDT reply actions

Right, if Davis is demoted

than we’ll have 5 errors a game and the team will collapse.

Not just first place...

Look at the percentages, the Rangers are 1st in the AL based on winning percentage. But virtually tied with the Red Sox I think.

If everything goes right

and the Rangers take both games of the DH and the LAAA Angels lose, the Rangers will be up 4.5gms at the end of the nite.

A mariners victory over the LAAAAAorA would help some today

by Jayslick on May 29, 2009 11:38 AM CDT reply actions

Whats up Jay, that was a tough loss to the Yankees

We’ll bounce back today…as long as we are playing within the division, it seems like we can win a lot of games. I mean our last 6 games in the division were 3 game sweeps of the Mariners and Angels. So hopefully a 4 game sweep of the A’s is possible.

by IanKinslerMVP on May 29, 2009 12:33 PM CDT up reply actions

yeah agreed

was at the Holland start, sitting there watching Tex go friggin yard right in front of me was a real buzz killer, I still dont think he even did bad but then they pull him (assume it was pitchcount) and put in whoever it was who promptly doubled in 2 inherited runs…

i was bitter and drunk by the 8th when beers were cut off. listening to those yankees fans who catch 2 games on TV a month and one series a year at the temple makes me wanna go postal on their ass.

keep your chin up, we’re fun to watch and as long as we arent playing the teams 100 years old we dont have the umps fuck us.

Gotta steal game 1 with Hunter on the hill,

but I’m not really confident in us hitting Outman. Exactly the type of guy we are highly impatient with, swinging at everything he tosses up there.

I thought it be all warm and shitty, but it just tasted like normal beer. It was still cold.

Isn't that pretty much true of EVERY pitcher we face right now??

Agreed, there seems to be a problem when our guys aren't hitting

When the pitching isn’t consistent, we’re used to that. But when the bats are quiet, then I get real worried

Standings

5-5 in the last 10, not so awesome

10-6 in one run games, pretty awesome.

Don't sweat the last 10 games

This team, on May 29, it appears legit.

Until this team

can in a regular and consistent way, beat Boston and New York, only then are they serious contenders. That is the path to the World Series.

Baby steps.

making the playoffs even if we go one and done would be a huge step forward.

I agree with babt steps, but

in the WC format, the playoffs are a coin flip.

Just get there…

sure

beating the angels in a regular and consistent mannor would be great! I’ll settle with that for now, and beating on the A’s every day.

by SanDiegoKev on May 29, 2009 1:40 PM CDT up reply actions

There is a good chance only one of Boston or New York makes the playoffs

and I’m pretty sure that I’m far more worried about facing Detroit than either of them.

I have an irrational hatred of Chris Davis because his Ks are way too ugly and irrational liking of Matt Harrison because he's a lefty - deal with it.

by JBImaknee on May 29, 2009 1:39 PM CDT up reply actions

What's up with the negative vibes SDKev?

I’m more worried about how the team plays ie, number of errors committed, how deep their starters go, how many walks they allow, how many times they get on base than how they play v. certain opponents.

If they do those things well, they can play with or beat anybody including the MF Yankees.

New York and Boston roll over them again and again.
