Pitching four shutout innings doesn't normally qualify a pitcher for the Hot Sheet, but Perez has been sensational on a tight pitch count all year. With a plus fastball and a plus curveball, Perez now has a 2.43 ERA with a 50-14 K-BB mark in 40 2/3 innings, while 65 percent of his outs on balls in play have come on the ground. His arm is loose and his delivery is clean and repeatable, but because of Perez's youth the Rangers have yet to let him go more than 5 1/3 innings in any of his nine appearances. But even at 18, he already looks like he's too advanced for low Class A.

Couldn't agree more
this dude doesn’t belong in a league with hitters that can’t touch a fastball…it’s just not fair

I meant to say "curveball" not "fastball"
but this way you guys got to kick the dead horse a bit more, so it all worked out.

18 yo in Low A...
So to put this in to persepctive, a typical American 18 year old would be either a HS Eligible draftee or about to move on to college. Said HS Eligible would more than likely go to extended spring training, possibly short season A ball if he were a quick sign.
This guy is quite possibly moving up to A+ after the draft at 18. We are going to have to be incredibly patient for him to come around as I’m sure JD and Co. will not want his innings to go up by more than 25 IP per season, which means, ETA is 2011 late?
Rivalries aside, RIP Nick Adenhart 04/09/2009.

If the goal is 110 IP this season
I think we can expect something around 140 next season and 170+ the year after. 2011 is probably the earliest we could expect to see him in the Majors if everything goes mostly right with him, but it also could be later depending on the how the ML team looks (which is no longer the guarantee to have room for Perez)
By 2028, Mark Teixeira will be in the HOF.

I think they may very well
send to Arizona for some R&R then to Bakersfiled after that. I would expect them to continue doing the tandem SP with him for the rest of the year.
