Ron Washington [said] this is just a day off for Davis, who tipped his helmet to acknowledge cheers late in Friday’s nightcap after managing a fly to deep left-center after six consecutive strikeouts. Washington said Davis arrived at 1 p.m. for extra work, including more emphasis on mechanics with Rudy Jaramillo. Washington said he hasn’t lost confidence in Davis: "He still has 12 [home runs], close to 30 ribbies."

40,000+ fans expected tonight

As I said in my FanShot, on one hand I am pumped about the area backing this team, on the other hand I hate band wagon fans. But then again I am loving Ranger Fever sweeping Texas.

Stop caring about the color of your glove and focus on your pitching.

Its ubsurd

If this team contends at least until August they are going to draw extremely well. Simply amazing what winning can do, as well as the fact that the Mavs and Cowboys and Stars had seasons that were less than what was expected from them.

This is our year.

Personally...

…I hope plenty of folks jump on the bandwagon. The more people who do, the more money comes into the organization.

I’d hate to see the team getting 15K per night with a first place team, because that means no Josh Hamilton or Ian Kinsler going forward, no money being spent on free agents, probably less money spent on amateur signings…

If ownerships sees that they can make money with a winning team, they are going to be a lot more likely to spend the money they need to to get a winning team.

Thoughts of LSB followed me to the game yesterday...

While walking around the stadium yesterday I passed by a kiosk with game used items…there were 5 jerseys for sale. There was one jersey that was hanging front and center overlapping the names of the other jerseys. This “featured” jersey was not Josh Hamilton, not Michael Young, not Ian Kinsler. No, the jersey that they decided to feature was…………………………Matt Kata

I had to laugh…I would not have thought another thing about but “These aren’t the Matt Kata Rangers”

Wow, this is neat info from Ceej.

Before a DH, he gets heavy treatment; laser, stim pack, deep massage. Then after he pitches in the 1st game, he gets a tissue only massage, then several reps of hot & cold whirlpools, then a luke warm shower. Then he dresses for game 2.

After pitching or warming up twice in a DH, he gets heavy duty massage and icing after the game, as well as laser, etc mentioned above.

He is currently wearing a heat pack on his shoulder, in hopes that he is available tonight.

Wow...the real Nuke LaLoosh

Here, it was Page from Baseball’s Past today.

Another story says that in 1960 at Stockton, California he threw a pitch that broke an umpire’s mask in three places, knocking him 18 feet (5 m) back and sending him to a hospital for three days with a concussion. Dalkowski once won a $5 bet with teammate Herman Starrette who said that he couldn’t throw a baseball through a wall. Dalkowski warmed up and then moved 15 feet (5 m) away from the wooden outfield fence. His first pitch went right through the boards.4 On another bet, Dalkowski threw a ball over a fence 440 feet (134 m) away.

I was just about to post on the very same topic

Nadel said Dalkowski K’d two batters per inning his first year in the minors, but he was bound and determined to throw it by every batter and his career BB/9 was over 12.

If the Rangers had been around then, surely we would have given him a shot.
