God that is so sexy
Bryan Smith (12:17:17 PM PT): Justin Smoak and Josh Hamilton. The AL West might just have found their Bash Brothers, v. 2.0.
this is ridiculously asinine

not the same
standings are listed everywhere, and i will concur that it’s great to see texas atop the standings.
i can assure you that seattle fans aren’t having a wet toast party today because they are (wherever they are) in the wild card standings – despite a great turnaround similar to texas’.

well, you get some bread. and then you get a toaster....
….i have no idea.
(Wife) "So what do you want to watch on the T.V.? UFC or porn?"
(Husband) "Hmm... well, porn, I guess."
We don't serve wet toast...
We have toast, and we have water. but….
NO SUBSTITUTIONS…

look for the synopsis for the urban dictionary link and that will tell you enough.
Not something that is my cup of tea if you will.

I am not sure
if I should be proud or embarrassed to say that I had to look up what a wet toast party was.
ive never heard of it either
it sounds somewhat similar to a game of limp bizkit

It's been over 3 years since we've been up top in May
can’t get too excited, but it feels good none the less.
"So, is there any tread left on the tires? Or at this point would it be like throwing a hot dog down a hallway?"
Wish list for May
- Hamilton comes back healthy and goes on a tear
- Jennings pitches on back to back days and provides the team with more flexibility in the 7th and 8th
- Benson acclimates to a long relief role and stays healthy long enough to give minor league guys time to grow
- McCarthy keeps trending upward
- Kinsler hits on the road as well as at home (mvp talk if that happens)
- Davis gets going
- I win the lottery
- no one starts yet another Rangers blog and posts about it here (probably the least likely on this list to come true)

Fine, ill wait till june to post my blog!
McCarthy & Davis would be at the top of my list.
the preceding post was a great success.
Will it be a blog
completely made up of GDT pics and animated gifs?
Cuz, that would be cool.

JD also needs to make a move that
helps the major league team, tball.
That bully needs another arm.
"Dying ain't hard. It's living that's hard."
Perhaps
though, if my wishes for Jennings and Benson both come true the pen looks alright for now. Then the only weak link would be Guardado, and I expect them to try Murray soon if he doesn’t turn it around. I don’t expect O’Day to keep this up all season, but he might keep it up long enough that some of the minor league guys are more ready to step in.
G G G E-flat_______ F F F D__________....
I'm sorry, Tball
Benson & Guardado suck and need to be replaced.
If somebody in the rotation goes down with an injury, Holland moves up.
We need somebody who will be able to be the bridge that Holland currently is when Holland moves up and that ain’t Benson or Guardado.
"Dying ain't hard. It's living that's hard."
I'm not disagreeing with you at all
The team is one injury away from really hurting in the depth department. But I made a wish list, not a “I expect to see these things happen” list. I’m more optimistic about Benson than Guardado right now, but that’s not saying much. But if the team can win like this when Hamilton, Blalock and Davis aren’t doing much, than they may be able to stay around .500 even if the pitching takes a likely step back when those guys get going again. I don’t expect the defense to suddenly suck, that improvement is real.
G G G E-flat_______ F F F D__________....
Depending on how long this current rotations keeps this up
It could end up being Feliz.
By 2028, Mark Teixeira will be in the HOF.
-The Outlaw
Feliz doesn't throw enough strikes to be successful.
NY Yanks lost again last night to a team they’re going to be competing with in the AL East and a big shake-up has to be on the way.

I love that. Payroll the size of a GDP of a small country and they are 3 games below .500 and 6 games out of first.

its so awesome to see that, I love watching them squirm
"The House That Ruth Built, 85 years old, goes out as The House That Hamilton Knocked Down"
His walks this year are a problem
But he’s better than that. I think he cuts those walks down significantly over the next couple of months. I don’t see Holland to the rotation being an option until at least June anyways (barring any injuries).
By 2028, Mark Teixeira will be in the HOF.
-The Outlaw
could it be
that he’s working on more of his secondary pitches, leading to lower success, i don’t know what he’s been working on
That's a possibility
I wish there was pitch type data for minor leaguers, at least at the upper levels.
By 2028, Mark Teixeira will be in the HOF.

SuperRod comes to save the day
SuperRod comes off the DL and is supposed to play Friday to save the season. " Faster then a speeding bullet, more powerful than a locomotive, and able to leap tall buildings in a single bound",
Then he needs to start throwing more strikes soon.
16 BB and 23 hits in 19.2 in is not good.
I will take the 9.8 k/9 is nice however

The M's got beat by Sir Sidney last night
Ha ha ha ha ha ha. Life is good
I'm sorely tempted to give the Royals
my blessing that they’re going to win 85+ games this year but I’m resisting even though their Beane Count number today is pretty salty.
"Dying ain't hard. It's living that's hard."
speaking of the Ms
The Mariners do not have any 2010 options. Instead, they’re looking at the completion of the Adrian Beltre, Jarrod Washburn, Miguel Batista, and Erik Bedard contracts after ‘09 (among others). Those four represent $40MM coming off the books. However, it’s also 40% of the starting rotation and the starting third baseman.
They are going to have plenty of $$ to spend on FAs. But next year’s FA pool isn’t exactly very deep.

I hope they spend big on pitching
There are some huge busts in waiting there.

Yeah
I don’t think that you can understate how much the M’s want the Nats to pass on Stephen Strasburg. They have the money. They have the near term (1-2 years away) opening in their rotation…
At the same time, Strasburg probably desperately wants the Nats to pass, because he knows the M’s have all that money and need pitching. I suspect he could milk the M’s for $10 million more than he could the Nats.
Strasburg wants to pitch in Arlington
He just doesn’t know it yet
I wish he could fall to the Rangers
But I know that’s impossible. Why is it that no matter how bad the Rangers are, the best pitchers are always out of reach in the draft?
I propose a 5-year moratorium on trading any young Ranger pitchers who throw over 90 mph.
Because the Rangers are never that bad
From our bubble, we see some awful Ranger teams, but the Rangers are rarely the worst team in the league, or anywhere close. Living in San Diego, I get to see what a truly awful club is most years. The Rangers are frustratingly volatile, but with an offense always in the top tier, they’re going to always have 70 or so wins, even in the worst seasons.
You are correct
This is why the Rangers have to build through trades for the most part. Rarely will the Rangers ever get a top 5 pick. This is why crappy teams can pass us because they get one of the top 5 picks year in and year out see TB.

I wish teams could trade draft picks.
The Nats would be better off trading their #1 to someone like the Yankees for a couple of first rounders and a second rounder.
Elvis Andrus - 2009 AL Rookie of the Year
I have a feeling
the Nats will be better off having Strasburg winning the Cy Young in 2012, 2014, and 2015
lineup up

lol we have passed the marlins. They were 11-3. Ouch.
the preceding post was a great success.
Millwood shows
up on 2 of 3 most fortunate lists. Hmm… not surprised.
Elvis Andrus - 2009 AL Rookie of the Year
It seems like...
he has hit 5 or 6 balls that he has just missed and really came close to going out. Even with that he’s hitting around .300 with good power. I can’t see why anyone would still be doubting Nellie right now.
