That said, I’ve been pleased with Ron’s moves – he gets a lot of heat on some blogs and not enough credit, in my opinion.

We monitor our pitchers’ useage carefully. Frankie had thrown 29 pitches over 2 days before coming in yesterday. Before that he’d thrown just once in the previous 3 days (maybe 4? I don’t have it in front of me). He’s 29, not 22. When it gets to a certain point, Ron & Mike will tell him he’s not available. If it’s close, as it was yesterday, they listen to how the pitcher is feeling and what the game situation is. Last night, we had the 2-3-4 hitters coming up in a 1-run division game and Frankie said he felt great. That’s his job. Closers on good teams pitch a lot. This is a good problem to have… That said, we monitor these things and will make sure Frankie (and everyone else) gets the rest they need.

If Feldman turns out to be fo’ real then the hated Mark Connor should get lotsa cred for originally proposing raising his arm angle.
