by shroomer on May 8, 2009 9:45 PM CDT up reply actions

I thought they

were right about him coming back down on the bag – bad call. But then right before they went off the air they showed a different camera angle that appeared to show him miss the bag as he came down then shuffle his foot over to tag the bag too late. Safe. ha

by shroomer on May 8, 2009 10:11 PM CDT up reply actions

Not really saying they were wrong about the call.

It just annoyed the hell out of me that they were going on and on about it, and that they kept saying that it made the difference in the game, even though we won by six runs.

Their ridiculous homerism drives me nuts, though it’s hardly news at this point.

Unfortunately, MLB Extra Innings didn’t offer today’s game on FSSW.

one ball hit hard all night

granted, it would have been a 3 run homer in August, but it’s a long out tonight.

Matt Harrison was getting hit so hard early in the year. He didn’t miss any bats, and this has to be one of the quickest and most dramatic changes I’ve ever seen in a pitcher. 19 scoreless innings in a row! Wow!

by cmkelly29 on May 8, 2009 10:29 PM CDT up reply actions

Yes, this case might be worthy of its very own fanpost

Esteban having an affair with the 19 year-old nanny of another Ranger, building a house in PA with his wife while he’s got a thing going with this girl in TX, getting traded to the Jays and filing for divorce in TX without telling his wife, telling his wife he would meet her back in PA after the season when he instead went to TX to ho house shopping with the mistress, not to mention the ridiculous amount of money spent on this girl and her family.

It’s quite an epic set of facts, and I haven’t even made it all the way through the case yet.

Direct TV has MLB Network.

And they have a deal going right now for 34.95/mo for the first year, I think it is Top 150 or somesuch. And, if you move, they will come pick up your dish and install a new one wherever you move.

If you live in Texas...

…Direct TV and Dish Network have a deal with the Rangers where they show almost all the games (including the over-the-air games normally shown on 21 or whatever in D/FW) on the alternate FSSW feed if they aren’t scheduled to be shown on the regular feed.

You miss a few games, but basically, if you live outside the Metroplex and want to make sure you get as many games as possible, you have to go with one of the satellites.

MY update
The third baseman said he hurt his lower back diving for a grounder in the second inning and aggravated it during his third inning at-bat. He iced it after leaving and was going to ice it again Friday night. He said he did the same thing a couple of years ago in Detroit and missed two games. He said the pain is tolerable, but is concerned because of how it affects his range of motion and mobility. He said he’d wait and see how he feels Saturday before deciding if he can play.

This game had lots going for it.

1. Good, no excellent, starting pitching (by a rook nonetheless)
2. Very nice defense (1 screwy error but some fine plays too)
3. Few walks (I guess that goes with #1)
4. A seemingly more patient lineup
5. The ability to score runs without the long ball
6. Frank Frank was able to get some rest
7. Good baserunning

This is the kind of game that championship teams have on a semi-regular basis.

Also, have you guys noticed that the Rangers are generally doing all those little things right? Throwing to the right base, wiping out the pivot man on DP balls, stealing bases that are given to you (and some that aren’t). I’m going to say something that I didn’t think I’d say: looks like Warsh has the Rangers prepared. Earlier there were some sloppy games, but nothing on the level of the last two years and now they’re playing pretty good fundamental baseball. Still not particularly a fan, but I can no longer call for his head as long as the players like him.

by Black Francis on May 8, 2009 11:43 PM CDT reply actions

#5 is one thing i've noticed

I'm glad that I've been driving the Harrison bandwagon

though I’m sad I missed tonights game, and therefore have to miss the rest of Harrison’s starts…

Yeah.

And I saw my BMac van have a blowout and swerve off the highway into a bus full of little kids.

Luckily, all the children survived with few injuries.

Injuries

That will keep the sidelined for most of the entire year, however.

well damnit. I missed the game

got a hall pass this weekend with wifey going out of town with the girls and got free front row tickets to see the Friday Night Fights boxing match in downtown Fort Worth. Decided to go because I had never seen a boxing match live.

It was hard to follow the Rangers on the phone in between rounds because the ring girl was so damn hot but I did my best.

He’s really run the “I kill you!” thing with Achmed the Dead Terrorist into the ground, though.

Dunham is hilarious

the show was good.

The only thing i thought was not good was the lighting. The stage was no lit up that good.

So lets get this right

Harrison is pitching well

Andrus is at worst an all glove no bat SS, and more likely going to be a league average bat

Salty is OPSing well higher than Laird

Feliz and Vaughn are still in the minors,,,

That Atlanta trade is an absolute fleecing

Heh

Speaking of Laird… man, he has come crashing back to earth like a decrepit satellite after a hot start to the season. Had a .914 OPS after 14 games, but he’s just 1 for his last 25 – and 6 for his last 40 if you go back to April 21st. That’s our Gerald all right.

Still has an OBP almost 30 points higher than Salty though. People have finally laid off Salty now that his BA is decent, but he seriously is in Chris Davis and Hank Blalock land when it comes to OBP right now. The sad thing is, his .313 OBP is still smack in the middle of the team right now (6th) – god, we suck at walking this year.

Salty may have a low OBP but the guy knows how to take pitches and make a guy pitch to him.

when he’s on, he can work a count much better than CD and Hank

I still remember that walkoff Nellie hit a couple years ago with the pink bat against the Angels.

One of the awesomer moments of the last couple seasons.

Yep.

Probably the biggest highlight of the ‘07 season for me, outside of the trade deadline. It’s the one that’s stuck with me anyway.
