Rangers interested in Huston Street
According to Jayson Stark:
Huston Street (0.60 ERA since April 26) is beginning to attract interest, and the Rangers are believed to be one of the teams following him closely.

After the Strasburg story. I wonder if FX2 is worse off then we are led to believe? Well I guess I need a few more words here to meet the 75 word minimum!

Is Frankie
in worse shape than we thought or is this more of an issue with management not having that much faith in CJ and wanting to move FX2 back to the setup role?
I once had an awkward moment, just to see how it feels.
Why would you...
even think about moving FX2 out of the closers role unless his health forced you to (which doesn’t make much sense to me in the first place)? He’s been automatic every time out there since being the closer.
I agree
If FX2 is healthy there is absolutely NO reason to move him to setup. Maybe bring in Street as a setup guy, but when healthy I will take FX2 over Street for sure to close a game

No way they move Frankie
Street would be the power righty set up guy we have needed and also act as Frankie insurance in case his injury situation doesn’t improve.
I thought it be all warm and shitty, but it just tasted like normal beer. It was still cold.
Not to be an alarmist but...
“Biceps tendonitis” has a bad habit of “turning into” a torn labrum.

my question
Is it unusual that FX2 has been battling this injury condition without showing any ill effects on his actual pitching?
When he’s taken the mound, he’s been lights out. I more accustomed to our pitchers sucking for a good period of time, then finding out there is an injury. Seems odd that he is still so good when he is able to take the mound. Does that potentially mean that the ailment isn’t that severe?

Torn labrums are tricky.
I pitched with a torn labrum for 7 years. There are varying degrees and symptoms, but diagnoses of “biceps tendonitis” always scare me.
Some people are even asymptomatic until after they stop playing. It can affect range of motion. It necessarily affects the long head of the biceps because part of it’s attachment is on the labrum. Sometimes it hurts, sometimes it doesn’t.
Frankie has a pretty unique arm cocking phase that is probably the cause. I would hate for this to be the case, but I won’t be shocked if that’s what it is.

He may be
scaring you man but he is right. I went through college with very little to no injury problems (tendonitis and bursitis once and that is it). Got an MRI after i stopped play and lo and behold…Doesnt hurt at all and most likely wont get it fixed but it is not uncommon.

To qualify,
the doctor said i hurt it way back in HS too so it was nothing my college coaches did at all thankfully.

Could be
…that they’re worried about Frank Frank’s health but he’s legitimately owned that spot and I don’t think they’d take it away from him. Hopefully there’s nothing wrong with him and Street would be brought in just to be another setup guy. I don’t think that would be a slight to CJ Wilson…good teams often have three shutdown pitchers in their pen.

Street
He would be a good set-up guy. He wouldn’t replace Francisco as the closer.
That said, I’m not sure what the match would be. Colorado doesn’t need another catcher.
we have a few other assets
besides catchers.
What is this, Horseville? Because I'm surrounded by naysayers.
We do
But which of those other assets should we trade for a guy like Street? He’s their closer, and he’s a year and a half away from free agency, so the price would be pretty high. If we are going to pay a high price for something, I’d like for part of it to be a catcher, rather than another position.

i think you way over estimate the trade value of street

This team needs to win a series vs a team's #1 and #2 starters..
.. before I start trading talent to make a run. Our record against good teams is awful, and we’ve missed quite a few of the #1’s and #2’s.
Didn't they do that
against the Angels and Mariners, two of the better front rotos in the league?

For the first 6-7 weeks of the season we caught almost every top starter a team had..
and generally had fair success…
it was a topic of discussion.
the preceding post was a great success.
Our record against teams not named the Tigers is freaking incredible.

Well....
The Rockies have won 8 straight now if that means anything, so I imagine they’d want to hang onto Street at the moment….
my sig is better than yours
It depends on who's running the team , a realist or an optimist.
A realist would see that there’s no way the Rockies will over come the hole they’re in. They’re not winning the NL West or getting the wild card this year, that team’s coming out of the East or Central. As mentioned before, free agency looms for Street and if the Rockies can get anything of value for him I’d imagine they’ll pull the trigger while his numbers look good. He’s been pretty streaky the past couple of years.

There's nothing wrong with closer by committee if you actually have three closers.
I’m guessing the Rangers will by default be linked in with rumors for any closer that comes on the market: Jenks, Qualls, Street, Dotel
I still don’t like giving away prospects for a closer. Look at what Texas got for UUU, Gagne, etc. But, in the case of Street I probably could deal with it since he’s likely to be Type A FA.

Another thing to consider
FX2 is free agent eligible after next season.
"He's old school in that he give up his groin like that. It hurt me when he do that" -- Worsh on Chris Davis' stretch at first base to end the game vs. the Angels on 5/16
are you sure?
I dont see how he could be coming up on 6 years of service time with all the lost time to injuries.
the preceding post was a great success.
There's nothing wrong with bringing in Street
I would be happy with having him and CJ as the co-setup guys. CJ comes in when it’s a lefty heavy inning, and Huston for the righties, though both could easily face the opposing sides if one isn’t ready to go on a given night.
I’d take Frankie over either though, all things considered.

Street...
This is the type of trade that I am in favor of…..
Trade for a guy that will be here for 2 playoff races instead of just a rent a player, and he should be a type A free agent if he leaves after the year and a half.
He will cost more, but this is one of the things we can use our farm depth for.

I'd like it...but for who?
Street would be nice in our BP, but what would be the cost? I’m for it for the right price….as pictured above ^
UT Reunion?
So we would have Taylor Teagarden and Huston Street? Maybe we can get Augie to coach, too.

Um...
Rockies have won 9 in a row now, and that division is up for grabs. Street is not going anywhere.
That's why they call them business sox
Huh?
The Dodgers are the best team in baseball so far and the Rockies are 10.5 games back. There are 7 teams with or ahead of the Rockies in the wild card standings. It’s too early to throw in the towel, but the Rockies look like a good candidate for the seller category.
G G G E-flat_______ F F F D__________....
After what that franchise pulled off two years ago
All it would take is a Rangers series sweep [go Rangers] and a couple of more wins for them to think they’re back in the hunt. And, I don’t know what I was thinking when I wrote that division was up for grabs. I was thinking of the central. I shouldn’t write comments that early.
That's why they call them business sox
Can this be the catchall for trade talk and we just change the name of the title?
dunno where else to discuss it and i dunno if its worth a whole separate topic every time. anyway heres my thoughts regarding target teams.
Arizona is creaming for a trade as they are in financial straights just like everything else in arizona or CA, they are 17 games back and i think you could get doug davis cheap. That would add a reliable piece to the rotation if Harry cant get back onto the rotation. Food for thought. I was also trying to figure out how to put together a big enough package to get Justin Upton with a Borbon + Davis + Main + Poveda type of deal + whatever it would take for Davis who is making 8.75M this season and then a FA, so they probably wouldnt feel too bad about dumping that for something real reasonable.
anyway ’Zona seems like an easy fit, id love to make them one of those offers that cant be refused for Upton but thats likely just dreaming, but with our system i think its doable, nd you get a piece for this season in davis and a piece for the future. even if that idea is silly i think the general idea isnt bad about pitching piece and hitting piece combo with one with an eye towards the future and one with the idea towards the right now isnt crazy even if the pieces are totally different and with a different team.
thoughts?
mormons stole me and held me against my will with Oklahoma beer and 12+ hour work days.
Davis isn't good, and Upton is untouchable
Don’t want Davis, Upton is not going to be traded. Davis has a 4.77 FIP, and even that looks lucky, in the NL. If they’re going to trade for a starter, I guess you could do worse than Davis, but I’d sure as hell like them to do better.
G G G E-flat_______ F F F D__________....
in 79 IP, Davis has a 3.65 era has given up less than a hit an inning and walks too many guys
but like i said, if we need a rotation filling spot and dont wanna give up shit to fill that spot and have some1 better than the El Duque 2009 model, you could get davis for next to nothin. thats my point. and he isnt terrible.
mormons stole me and held me against my will with Oklahoma beer and 12+ hour work days.
I prefer not to trust ERA.
No, he’s not terrible, but that 3.65 is misleading. Lucky BaBIP and runners left on base, national league, a 5.33 tRA. I’m ok with him if the price is real low, but no one should be thinking he’s a 3.65 pitcher.
G G G E-flat_______ F F F D__________....
I would guess Justin Upton is on the short list of absolutely untouchable players
No freakin way they’d deal him
