Re: Kinsler and the ASG

He still deserves to be the starter based on overall numbers.

His .387 wOBA is 19 points higher than Pedroia’s, his 5.6 UZR is third behind only Polanco and Kendrick (who are last and third to last in wOBA among 2B’s) and his 2.7 WAR gives him a full half-win edge on Aaron Hill.

Even as terrible as his approach is right now, his awesome April still makes up for it.

Hello Win Column

by LSJ on Jun 11, 2009 8:41 PM CDT up reply actions

What is the point then?

Because that’s usually how the “all-star” moniker is used by those who use it as a qualifier.

by rangers85 on Jun 11, 2009 8:45 PM CDT up reply actions

The real point of the event is publicity and fanfare

But people tend to use it as a qualifier that player X is having a good season when they’re talking about him in the second half.

I don’t really put much stock into the entire thing myself, it’s just a fun excuse to go through the league leaderboards. But I do think that because it tends to be used as a qualifier of what kind of a season an player has had or is having, you should vote for the guys who are performing the best in that season.

If you can't watch Holland and see that he's going to be awesome, you probably shouldn’t be watching baseball. - Section 339

We clumped together a "bunch of hits" back in the second.

Two.

You could rewrite that as...

It would be nice if ________ would stop sucking.

I'm not blaming it on Jones

But I am pointing out he’s about 2 more collars away from going from terrific early season success story to struggling short-timer.

by Adam J. Morris on Jun 11, 2009 9:32 PM CDT up reply actions

I might have declared victory a bit early on that one

still a good signing but not really the success story that i thought it was

i think jones' success is dependent on AJM thinking he sucks

I'm much happier

with AJM posting that AJ sucks. He might start hitting again. He insists CD is gonna hit all year long, and we’ve seen how well thats been working.
