Minors 6/13
Hickory - 6:00pm - Fredo Boscan makes his 4th start since coming off of the DL.
Bakersfield - 9:00pm - Ryan Tatusko fills in for Michael Main. I have no idea why Main is missing this start, but if his start to the season is any indicator, it's probably something catastrophic.
Frisco - 7:00pm - Kasey Kiker will try to get out of the 4th inning tonight, which he's only managed to do once in his last 4 starts. At least the dude's missing bats.
OKC - 6:00pm - Josh Rupe.

What? No comments for Rupe?

Rupe a loop
is terrible and will probably be one of the casualties of all the new signings and promotions. If Texas inks 25+, several org soldiers are going to be let go and I have to imagine Rupe is on that list.
His mom might take
exception to that comment.

During the HIC pregame show
Buchbinder mentioned that the Crawdads’ strength and conditioning coach was floored by how beastly Namirez’ off-day workout was. Evidently, dude don’t play when he works out.
shroomer I found
a couple of real good articles about a few of these kids. You’ll love the one about Vail, who has signed and is on his way to Spokane.
It’s good stuff and I even happened upon info for one kid while searching for info on another. I’m really interested to see how many of these high school kids they try to sign.
I think I read that article about Vail earlier today.
Interesting situation – tough sell to get the brass to actually draft him.
Who is this Vail character and what's the story?

Thanks
Kind of a cool story, certainly not the groomed and coddled prep star of the early rounds, that’s for sure. Even if he’s just ultimately an organizational soldier, he’ll be one that I root for to carve out a nice career.

better prospect after the season
Kiker or Beavan?

Beavan was almost universally considered a better prospect before the season.
I doubt Kiker’s performance has done much to change that.
Kiker
he doesnt suck, he’s excellent at hitting batters
"I'm against picketing, but I don't know how to show it." - Mitch Hedberg
I think he'll be a decent power lefty arm out of them pen, and there's a lot of value to that.
Matt Thornton, Scott Downs, JP Howell.
Those guys are all really nice to have.

probably will be a decent RP
but good lord hes got to stop going wild thing on batters

More strikeouts than innings pitched is a power arm to me.
But in terms of AJM’s definition (which I’m assuming is strictly based on velocity), then, no. He doesn’t throw particularly hard.
Neither does Downs, either.

If Kiker turns into Scott Downs
That draft pick will be a success. Maybe not as much of a success as we had hoped originally, but any time a pick turns into a valuable cog on the 25 man roster it’s a success.

Beavan
It’s really not close. Kiker has to be a lot less wild, not to mention he needs to be far more efficient as far as his pitch counts are concerned. He’s not going deep into games because he throws way to many pitches/batter.
wtf do you mean it's not even close
kiker is so much better than beavan

Beavan by a mile.
And not one of those cheap Canadian miles, either.

In what way?
Right now the only Kiker > Beavan argument I can think of is that Kiker was drafted higher than Beavan.

Golson
got his avg up to .291. why doesn’t he bat higher in the line up?

Boscan needs to be in Bakersfield.
As does Nooch.
And Nam.
And probably M-Per.

Leave Perez alone
let him get his innings in Hickory. He’s still learning things there and he’s comfortable.
No, you leave him alone!
I think he can do those things in Bakersfield, too.
I think he’d be fine either way, actually.
The only reason I’d really advocate for leaving him in Hickory is how many other LA guys he has around him in Hickory. He and Wilmer are BFF. It’s hard enough for an 18 year old kid to adapt to minor league life when he’s a native. I think things like that go double when you’re in a foriegn country, too.

Yes, good for you.
I was commenting along the same lines while expanding on it.
I was saying I don’t really agree with the first part of your statement but could see the reasoning behind the comfort factor because of his friends and the overall abundance of young spanish speakers on the Hickory roster right now.

He struggled the other night.
He’s been good but not completely dominate. That was my other point. Why are we arguing?

Paisano hasn’t played since May 30. What’s injured?

I think the Rancho radio guy just said Main is back in AZ rehabbing something
but not sure – just heard the end of what he said.
he said that main would be rehabbing
i was listening too. not sure what to make of that

Miggy De Los Santos down in the DSL
Totals so far – 8.1 IP over 4 apps – 1 hit, 1 R, 1 ER, 3 BB, 22 K’s, BAA .036
Miggy’s not caught up in any visa crap, right? Or do we not know for sure?
There was a mini age-gate issue before ST, IIRC.
So, only 3 outs with the ball in play. Yikes. Men amongst boys as they say when age-gate rears its ugly head.

Is there a set time
in the season when the rangers like to dole out promotions? Seems like there are several guys that need to be pushed a bit.
In the past
when short season opens and right after the respective league’s all star breaks. As guys get assigned from extended and new players sign promotions will commence and probably a few org guys may be let go to make room. Especially if they want all these pitchers to get innings in leagues as opposed to in extended.
