bigsteve, is that you?
.364 in his last 4 games
By 2028, Mark Teixeira will be in the HOF.

More importantly, he's reaching base at a .500 clip those last 4 games.
3 walks his last 4 games as opposed to 3 walks in 30 games previous to that.
If you can't watch Holland and see that he's going to be awesome, you probably shouldn’t be watching baseball. - Section 339
And even more importantly
his at bats look better even when he doesn’t get a hit or walk.

B: “You have a crappy horse.”
While, at first glance, B seems to refute A, the statements aren’t really related.

And of course
just as he looks to be having some good ABs and possible coming out of his slump, Wash sits him on Sunday. All hail The Gut!

Ouch, CD as one of our hottest hitters? Ouch...
Btw, anybody else see the front page of texasrangers.com… Milly looks almost angelic. Pretty great pic considering the pic is promoting him building a ballpark for kids.
"The House That Ruth Built, 85 years old, goes out as The House That Hamilton Knocked Down"
OK this is the first thread I've read all day: has LSB come to an agreement as to how to solve this problem?
We’re gonna be without Hamilton until, what, August?
Are we gonna have to deal for a bat? I’ve read some of Adam’s front-page columns and they seem to suggest that shifting the line-up around wouldn’t do too much good…
Then again, I remember Adam being so embarrasingly wrong about Bottsy.
I want Nick Johnson or Josh Willingham
My take is if we don’t get a patient high OBP slugger by the trade deadline, this offense is going to fall apart.
Hell, it pretty much already has.

I think that people are for one of the following
-Trade for a poor defense, good bat that can be had for relatively cheap like Johnson, Willingham, or Hawpe
-Move the lineup around to shake things up
-Live with the slump that the players are in and wait for them to get out of it on their own
-Trade for more pitching
By 2028, Mark Teixeira will be in the HOF.

Hawpe
He wouldn’t be relatively cheap.

Interesting sample sizes.
Here are our stats from the last 15 days:
Player H/AB R HR RBI K AVG OPSMurphy 12/41 4 0 2 9 .293 .731
Davis 10/37 2 0 4 15 .270 .730
Young 14/54 5 1 2 10 .259 .650
Hank Blalock 8/32 6 1 3 7 .250 .689
Byrd 11/44 4 0 5 11 .250 .612
Saltalamacchi 08/34 0 0 3 12 .235 .522
Cruz 09/46 10 3 7 14 .196 .745
Kinsler 10/54 4 2 5 10 .185 .556
Teagarden 02/11 1 0 2 4 .182 .545
Jones 05/28 3 2 3 8 .179 .629
Andrus 04/30 3 0 1 7 .133 .411
And of course if you sort by last 7 days, everyone gets worse.
All this talk of "shaking things up" is silly.
We have a lineup full of guys pressing, trying too hard. Making a bunch of changes in the lineup is not going to solve that.

thats why you make new lineups
it really doesn’t change anything, it just gets people out of their current grooves.
At this stage you’d rather have someone happy or pissed off about their new lineup spot than thinking about their shitty at bats lately.

Interesting thought.
Get them pissed at Wash instead of at themselves.

From Matthew at LL:
Since May 1st, the Texas Rangers offense has been worth -6.4 runs compared to average, before park adjustments.
Since June 1st, the Texas Rangers offense has been worth -20.9 runs compared to average, before park adjustments. The only Ranger hitter in the black during June is David Murphy. And they have not even had to play in a NL park yet.
The Texas Rangers now have a seasonal, park-adjusted, wOBA of 0.339 against a league average of 0.341. The Texas Rangers have shown a below average offense in 2009.

Yep
there really aren’t many Ranger hitters who force you to throw them a strike. Just keep throwing em outside, and watch the Rangers try to turn on them. I’d be curious of those in the OSwing, how many are outside, because that looks like the pitch the Rangers aren’t laying off, and aren’t doing much with since they don’t seem interested in going the other way.

yep yep
Start the slider in the middle of the plate and the Ranger hitters will end up swinging at the low and outside pitch.

Byrd and Young have seemed to be the worst about this to me...
….Like Young is so far away from some of those low and away pitches, they seem to be several inches off the end of his bat.

MY tries almost too hard to go the other way sometimes
Kinda like Kinsler tries too hard to pull.

I think at times MY, Byrd
and others have made up thier mind that they are going to swing at the first FB they see. Doesn’t matter where it is located. So that slider looks like a FB and they take thier Mighty Casey cut at it. 0-1, end of AB per EG.

MY isn't really terrible in terms of swinging at pitches outside the zone
I think he just has the mindset that putting the ball in play is more important than getting on base
My solution to the offensive drought?
Get the entire lineup drunk before game time. Not sure why, but I just think it might help.
