I forget. Would this mean Sammy perjured himself?

possibly

I guess there could be a blur between “illegal performance-enhancing drugs” and what MLB was testing for. If the drug was something that players were not allowed to take yet was legal in the US (heck, or even legal in the Domincan where Sosa was taking it), then he may not have perjured himself.

Hall of Fame pitcher Nolan Ryan was on the same pitching staff with Danny Darwin during the 1986 through 1988 seasons. Both were described by Milo Hamilton as "tall, tough Texans." It was a source of debate amongst Astros players and fans over who would win in a fight, Ryan or Darwin. Though Astros pitcher Bob Knepper attempted to set up a fight between the two during spring training in 1988, manager Hal Lanier stopped it before it could commence. Many experts, including Astros shortstop Rafael Ramirez, felt that Darwin would win because he "looked like someone no man would want to mess with."

The money quote from the ESPN article about it

“I will calmly wait for my induction to the Baseball Hall of Fame. Don’t I have the numbers to be inducted?”

i guess a more

workable lineup would be to have sosa play rf and move canseco as P/DH right?

Well he came close enough plenty of times

Well not really close so much as using the Rangers for leverage, but that’s just as good.

By 2028, Mark Teixeira will be in the HOF.

I think we would be overlooking a few others....

….most notably “El Caballo” himself. I don’t think there is any doubt on that one, even though it made him a worse ballplayer while becoming more of a body-builder who could no longer move or swing fluidly.

There are others I would suspect

I miss 1989. I miss 1996. Please make me miss another season in 2008.

What's the damning evidence for Pudge?

I don’t recall any direct evidence similar to Juan, Raffy, Sosa, Arod, Ken, Canseco or GMJ. Not that I don’t think Pudge took PEDs, but I don’t recall any evidence beyond his incredible shrinking job.

Not damning, but

Canseco mentions him in one of his books.

we just assume

i know he’s innocent until proven guilty, but eh…consider him like a prisoner at Guantanamo.

Exactly - Canseco

Not exactly the same evidence as the rest (positive tests, being found with them or admitting to taking them). Probably shouldn’t lump Pudge in.

Canseco

Going strictly from memory here, but I believe most (maybe all?) of the players named by Canseco have been spot on. Have there been any accusations in the Canseco book that have proved to be false? I think the guy is a douche, but I also think he was telling the truth.

Canseco

has proven to be strangely accurate with his steroid accusations. Lately it seems like he’s just throwing shit at the wall to see what sticks… but with most of his early accusations, he was actually there. It wouldn’t shock me one bit to learn that Pudge was right in the middle of it, but it doesn’t change my opinion of him one bit.

Why doesn't the MLBPA and MLB go ahead and release the list?

I am sure somebody has copied it and it will eventually find its way into the public domain.

My concern isn't that they're confidential

But rather the results were sealed by court order, which is contempt of court.

I love it......

Sosa is my least favorite ballplayer ever.

I love that he got caught with a corked bat the same year he failed a test for PEDs.

I have never cared about failed tests that took place back before MLB formally instituted punishments for them. But this one amuses me.
